Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

This role is an essential component of regulatory reporting quality assurance over the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of Controllership regulatory report submissions that include but are not limited to, FR-Y-9C, FFIEC 031, FR Y-15, FR Y-14 and FR 2052a. The primary focus is to assist with the development and execution of strategies to monitor, test, and report on relevant regulatory reporting compliance risks. The position will involve frequent interaction with regulatory reporting process owners and stakeholder to promote report accuracy and process improvements that enhance the regulatory reporting control environment. As needed and applicable, the role will provide advice on requirement interpretations, control considerations, and issue resolution as well as assistance with regulator and audit interactions. The role will also contribute to or participate in Controllership Governance routines and initiatives focused on improving monitoring, testing, and reporting processes. The role reports to the VP, Regulatory Reporting Quality Assurance Manager.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the assessment of regulatory reporting compliance risks and with the development of risk-based monitoring and testing plans.

  • Performance and documentation of assigned regulatory report reviews.

  • Perform and document end-to-end regulatory process and transaction testing.

  • Research relevant banking, regulation, reporting, and operational topics.

  • In written and verbal communication, deliver clear and actionable review results and process feedback.

  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality deliverables that include risk assessment, testing, and review workpapers; reports; and stakeholder presentations.

  • Help advise on regulatory reporting requirement interpretation and control environment considerations.

  • Assist the Regulatory Reporting team with regulatory exam preparation and related remediation efforts.

  • As appropriate, assist 2nd line Risk and Internal Audit with their evaluation of regulatory reporting matters.

  • Maintain the needed regulatory reporting process understanding, requirement knowledge, and awareness of regulator expectations.

  • As appropriate, contribute to broader Controllership Governance routines and initiatives focused on improving monitoring, testing, and reporting processes.

  • Operate with a risk based, solution oriented, and continuous improvement mindset.

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or CA preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements, processes, and regulator expectations.

  • Minimum seven years accounting experience in the banking or financial services industry

  • Minimum five years banking industry regulatory reporting experience.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience with regulatory examinations.

  • Strong knowledge of CCAR (FR Y-15/ FR Y-14) and liquidity (FR 2052a) reporting requirements, processes, and regulatory expectations.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills - both oral and written

  • Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities and drive each to completion

  • Experience in automating/ simplifying financial processes or background in data management. (familiarity with SAS, power query and power BI or similar is a plus).

  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills

Grade/Level: 10

The salary range for this position is 75,000.00 - 130,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
