AutoZone, Inc. Distribution Center Maintenance Manager in Chowchilla, California

Job summary

Responsible for managing maintenance and repair on equipment, machinery, powered industrial equipment, electrical power systems and control, building, grounds and building systems to insure uninterrupted services and operations. Develops and maintains cost-effective procedures for repairing and maintaining all equipment to maintain high productivity standards. Manages, trains and coaches’ the maintenance staff. Performs other related duties as required.

Job Responsibilities:

· DC Maintenance Manager is responsible to operate in a safe manor and encourage an overall environment of safety. Always fosters an environment of safety by coaching all team members when safety issues arise. Facilitates safety training of the maintenance staff as prescribed by the company safety program manager. Participates in daily safety talks, safety demonstrations, safety week presentations, and accident investigations.

· Assist the Safety and Environmental Manager in assuring all team members utilize the appropriate personal protective equipment, complete all required OSHA and company training, and that all DC safety issues are addressed with the highest priority.

· Must be able to foster an environment of continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.

· Manages and directs activities of the maintenance staff in all areas of the building, on all shifts. Trains maintenance staff in their assignments. Facilitates professional development by conducting on-the-job training, performance appraisals, and needs assessments. Responsible for recommending and assisting in the development of training curricula. Enforces company policies and procedures.

· Directs repair of all equipment, machinery, powered industrial equipment, electrical power systems and control, building, grounds and building systems to insure uninterrupted services and operations. Serves as mentor and technical resource for maintenance staff troubleshooting and work methods.

· Is familiar with electrical systems, control systems including PLC’s and building environmental control systems, HVAC equipment, plumbing, carpentry, conveyors and conveyor belting repair and replacement, powered industrial equipment maintenance and repair, life safety systems including fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems, and building/grounds maintenance and repair, and others.

· Use the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to implement comprehensive preventive maintenance work orders for all distribution center equipment and systems. This includes, but is not limited to; powered industrial equipment, electrical systems, generator, fire alarm, sprinklers, balers, compactors, conveyor systems, automated equipment systems, compressors, pallet wrapping machines, computer cabling, etc.

· Plans and schedules the maintenance program and work schedules, to minimize equipment "downtime".

· Plan and assign preventive and emergency work orders to address planned and immediate needs involving the building and grounds. This includes but is not limited to, building structure, electrical issues, plumbing, roofing, painting, carpentry, outside grounds maintenance and custodial requirements.

· Assist the DC management team in developing and planning annual capital expenditure requests. Assist the Company DC Maintenance Project Manager in the acquisition and installation of approved annual capital expenditure requests. Follows company policies when requesting bids from outside contractors.

· Manages and hires outside contractors as needed for construction and or repair. Assures that outside contractors and vendors are set up in the company’s related systems, all required safety protocols are being followed and that all contracted work is completed to all company standards.

· Works independently or with an assigned project manager on any equipment, construction, racking , or other assigned projects as directed.

· Manages the DC maintenance budgets. Orders spare parts and supplies, custodial supplies and other ordering needs while managing spend verses budget.

· Responsible to keep a well-organized and a properly stocked maintenance shop that meets all OSHA and company standards for safety.

· Reports weekly KPI and budget status to company DC Maintenance Project Manager. Attends and participates in all required virtual or in-person meetings.

· Communicates timely and properly to DC management team as well as company support managers. Participates in all daily, weekly, and monthly meetings as assigned.

· Manages the maintenance department: budget, hours worked and assignments of work. Daily manages staffing needs ; attendance, vacations, leaves of absence, hiring, and turnover.

Basic Qualifications

· At least 5 years of experience in a Maintenance lead position, assisting management with the assignment of work and responsibilities to coworkers, and/or other managerial tasks (e.g., monitoring work, taking attendance, etc.) or High school GED and at least 4 years of experience in a Maintenance lead position, assisting management with the assignment of work and responsibilities to coworkers, and/or other managerial tasks (e.g., monitoring work, taking attendance, etc.)

· At least 4 years experience in distribution and/or manufacturing.

· Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) including preventive maintenance system implementation and optimization.

· Basic level skill in Microsoft Office 2003 or later Word (for example creating documents, entering, and formatting text, page layouts, creating tables, and adding graphics), Excel (for example creating worksheets, entering data, creating basic formulas, working with cells and rows) and PowerPoint (for example creating a new presentation from a design template, adding and removing slides, entering and formatting text, adding speaker notes, and viewing presentations).

· Willing to work any shift as needed.

· Able to travel as needed for training and support.

· Compensation Range: $68,400 to $119,700

Preferred Qualifications

· Knowledge of Automated Control Systems.

· At least 5 years maintenance experience with computer and programmable logic controller (PLC) based automated material handling manufacturing systems.

· Experience with Maintenance Inventory Management.

· At least 4 years’ experience directly managing 10 or more people in a multiple department area or facility

Compensation Range (USD): MIN 68400.0 - MID 94000.0 - MAX 119700.0
