Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Pathology of Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine is seeking a surgical pathologist to cover our expanding areas of service.

Candidates must have an MD degree or equivalent and be AP or AP/CP Board-certified/eligible. Individuals will be required to obtain a medical license in the State of Illinois. Strong diagnostic skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as strong work ethic abilities are essential. A record or a potential for academic and scholarly accomplishments indicating commitment to academic career is desirable.

The successful candidate will join a cohesive team of sub specialized surgical pathologists who handle approximately 35,000 surgical specimens annually. Ample opportunities for clinical/translational research and multidisciplinary collaboration with investigators of the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center are available.

Loyola Medicine encompasses five hospitals, including Loyola University Medical Center (a 547-bed hospital located in Maywood, IL), Gottlieb Memorial Hospital (a 252-bed hospital located in Melrose Park, IL), MacNeal Hospital (a 374-bed hospital located in Berwyn, IL), and Saint Joseph Health System, located in Indiana: Saint Joseph Health System (a 254-bed hospital located in Mishiwaka, IN) and Plymouth Medical Center (a 58-bed acute care hospital located in Plymouth, IN). All of these hospitals contribute to Loyola Medicine’s comprehensive healthcare network. Loyola Medicine serves as the academic hub for the Illinois/Indiana region, with its main campus located in Maywood, Illinois. This faculty position specifically resides at the main campus, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and healthcare advancement.
