Stantec’s Chicago, Illinois Water Team has an opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Civil Engineer with project management and municipal experience, particularly in water infrastructure solutions. We seek a team player who desires a highly collaborative work environment, has excellent client and communication skills, and a strong background of design and construction engineering experience.

This position requires an individual with strong leadership and proven management and business development skills to support growth, lead projects, and mentor junior staff. The successful candidate will be required to manage multiple projects simultaneously and will be responsible for collaborating with the local office and remote project teams, managing scope and deliverables, developing and managing project budgets, and performing internal and external project status reporting.

Your Key Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities of a Project Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Working in a manner to protect the health and safety of Stantec employees, clients, and the public by following company health, safety, and security guidelines and policies.

  • Execute project delivery and direct supervision over professional and technical staff.

  • Execute internal, client, contractor, and public communications.

  • Day-to-day management of multiple water and multi-disciplinary engineering projects in developing plan sets, specifications, budgets, and schedules to meet or exceed our clients’ expectations. This may include working with project team members from various office locations.

  • Lead, coordinate, and delegate proposal, contract administration, and project management efforts.

  • Collaboration with other company internal groups and disciplines and sub-consultants.

  • Professional engineering design and project oversight including Quality Assurance and Quality Control.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong project management skills, with experience in organizing, planning, and executing projects from pursuit through closeout, involving internal personnel, subconsultants, contractors, and vendors.

  • Demonstrated successful experience in client service management.

  • Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, including defining and setting the direction for a team, project, and office; strategy development; change management; and corporate stewardship.

  • Demonstrated successful experience in decision making, including making sound defensible business decisions; and identifying, assessing, evaluating, and solving complex problems.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving and risk management.

  • Multi-disciplinary treatment experience and interest preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Travel to other offices as well as to project sites may be required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil/Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution.

  • Master of Science in Civil/Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum 8 years’ relevant experience in project management, preferably for water projects.

  • Licensed Professional Engineer

    • Or the combination of education and experience to qualify for licensure within one year of hire.
  • Must have good driving record and valid driver's license.

Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
