U.S. Bank is seeking a Principal Engineer who will design and build a new technology platform for our Consolidated Loan Obligation (CLO) business as a foundation to our global digital transformation journey.

The candidate is a self-motivated individual who can collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization, including external clients and partners in the US and Europe. The candidate works with the product teams and has a holistic view on how the products within the portfolio(s) align to strategic initiatives. The candidate defines technical strategy and takes full stack ownership of the software produced, adhering to U.S. Bank standards in order to ensure scalability, reliability and performance of the systems. The candidate fosters a culture of continuous learning, sharing and collaboration within and outside of the organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design capabilities and features that are targeted to meet existing, enhanced, and new capabilities for a new CLO platform for Global Corporate Trust and Custody.

  • Lead, direct, and recommend solutions to cross-functional teams targeted for enhancements for system performance, reliability, scalability, and capacity.

  • Modernize our infrastructure and application portfolio by building new and migrating existing applications on the cloud, in partnership with our primary cloud provider, Microsoft Azure.

  • Develop and deploy solutions by working with agile teams across the enterprise as well as partnering with external vendors and clients.

  • Support integrations with internal and external systems to automated and streamline key capabilities such as loan notices, wires, trades, analytics and reporting, and payments

  • Expert software engineer with hardware, software, and database experience.

  • Strong communication skills including external reviews with industry standards organizations or industry technical forums, such as SWIFT.

  • Strong technical team leadership, mentorship, and collaboration.

  • Develop systems with business and technical teams to ensure people, process, and technology align and work together to improve the end-to-end ecosystem.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Eight or more years of relevant experience

Experience Should Include

  • Proven experience in technical leadership, decision making, design and development of products from scratch.

  • Azure (AKS, Azure SQL, additional services, a level of expertise in Azure to make design recommendations/native services to leverage)

  • Strong C# skills: .NET Core (5 or above) development experience

  • Experience with REST APIs (both creation and consumption)

  • Proficient in applying modern design patterns and SOLID principles to solve complex business problems.

  • Experience in SPA development using React or Angular/Typescript.

  • Entity Framework Core or Dapper experiences.

  • Strong MS SQL skills with performance tuning and optimization

  • Solid experiences in microservices development and containerization of Apps for Kubernetes deployment and build CI/CD pipeline with Jenkins or Azure DevOps

  • Experience with JFrog Artifactory, GitLab, Docker, Helm Chart and Rancher.

  • Experience with securing SPA using ForgeRock or similar identity provider and understand OIDC AuthZ/AuthN flow.

  • Experience in writing xUnit, SpecFlow and PostMan tests

  • UI testing framework experience, like Jasmine, WebdriverIO

  • Event driven architecture with Azure Service Bus, Kafka or RabbitMQ

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in Fortify and vulnerability remediation

  • UI (React.js/Typescript preferred)

  • Experience with GitHub, Maven, Jenkins, WebSphere

  • Azure native containers (AKS) Docker, Kubernetes, KeyVault, HELM, Gitlab pipeline for Azure deployment, Scripts for Azure Infrastructure with Terraform, ServiceNow for change management

  • Thorough understanding of the business model in relation to current product focus area.

  • Adept with agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles

  • Ability to collaborate on all aspects of product development.

  • Technically proficient and able to define and fulfill solutions requirements for end user

  • Able to communicate processes and results with all parties involved in the product team, including engineers, product owner, scrum master, third party vendors and customers.

  • Adept with agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles

  • Thorough understanding of a feature, the users impacted, the flows impacted and feature's purpose

  • Understanding of the team's domain, how work in this domain relates to the team's objectives and deliverables and how it contributes to overall business strategy and how technical strategy maps to this

  • Ability to collaborate on all aspects of product development

  • Technically proficient and able to define and fulfill solutions requirements for end user

  • Able to communicate processes and results with all parties involved in the product team, including engineers, product owner, scrum master, third party vendors and customers

  • Proficient understanding of algorithms, data structures, architectural design patterns and best practices

  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills

The role offers a hybrid / flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $145,180.00 - $170,800.00 - $187,880.00
