Shift: Shift 1

Work Schedule: 8 Hr (8:30:00 AM - 5:00:00 PM)

Summary:

The Manager of Research aligns with the RUMC strategic goal to transform the practice of clinical research and the operational goal to strengthen clinical trials. RUMC will be a national leader in the conduct of multi-center clinical trials. The Manager connects study teams to the resources they need within the institution in addition to interacting with sponsors. Provides work direction, education, orientation, and operational problem solving within the work unit on a day-to-day basis and communicates and coordinates activities with management. The individual who holds this position exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manages research staff.

  2. Receives requests for CRNs, CRCs, and RCs and make assignments of available staff.

  3. Provides day-to-day supervision, ensures milestone attainment, and communicates metrics effectively.

  4. Assists the Director in implementing and executing business strategies and measuring performance toward goals.

  5. Collaborates with Principal Investigators and other members of clinical research teams while providing excellent customer service.

  6. Stays current with industry trends; summarizes and share relevant industry information during internal and external presentations.

  7. Coordinates the training activities of all clinical research personnel.

  8. Works with study staff, data management teams, and Clinical Research Assistants to ensure efficient data collection and quality assurance procedures are in place.

  9. Assists with problem solving activities to bring smooth resolutions.

  10. Fills in for Clinical Research Coordinators and related functions during unexpected absences.

  11. Performs other job related assignments as required.

Other information:

Required Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree.

• Five years of clinical research experience required.

• Outstanding computer skills.

• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrated commitment to clinical research.

• Ability to understand and maintain discretion and confidentiality related to all aspects of the trial.

• Ability to work with a variety of individuals in a professional manner.

• Availability on some evenings and occasional Saturdays when needed.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

• Master's degree or other advanced degree in health or science field.

• NIH, pharmaceutical, or device clinical trial research experience as a research study/project manager.

• Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.

• Prior supervisory experience.
