Summary:

The Physician and Provider Compensation Partner is responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of physician compensation and clinical incentives. This position requires close collaboration with other members of the RUMG, Finance and Legal leadership teams, physician leaders, and across the health system. Demonstrates, supports and exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the design and administration of all physician compensation programs across all mission areas and service lines, including administrative roles.

  2. Ensures physician compensation models are effective, well understood, and compliant with all state and federal regulatory requirements.

  3. Ensures that physician compensation models are consistent and in compliance with Fair Market Value (FMV) guidelines, internally equitable and the models perform properly and consistently.

  4. Serves as the lead technical expert on system-wide physician compensation arrangements.

  5. Maintains understanding and awareness of physician variable compensation components to physician pay as administered by Finance. Assists Finance on variable pay for physician compensation as needed.

  6. Assists with physician compensation-related matters including practice acquisitions, proformas and medical director contracts and develops external vendor relationships as needed to support the design of physician compensation programs.

  7. Prepares and curates necessary documentation for physician compensation, pay offers, and changes; including policy, leader, and individual communications.

  8. Serves as the subject matter expert for the RUSH system on physician compensation.

  9. Recommends physician base salaries as benchmarked and consistent with compensation philosophy and set with a competitive fair market value (FMV) analysis.

  10. Oversees development of department-specific monthly reports monitoring clinical physician wRVU performance ensuring appropriate performance activity, metrics and trends are available.

  11. Responsible for communications and education sessions for department, divisional, and sectional administrative leadership regarding all physician compensation plan changes.

  12. Makes recommendations and analyze data to support annual budget production related to physician compensation and all clinical incentives and processes within different RUMC operating entities.

  13. Represents the Total Reward-Compensation team on various committees related the physician compensation and incentive plans.

Other information:

Required Job Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree or higher in business, accounting, human resources, or a related field required.

  2. At least five years of related healthcare experience in practice management, finance, or decision support.

  3. At least three years of experience administering and developing physician and other provider compensation plans.

  4. Demonstrated compensation analysis and modeling experience required.

  5. Prior experience using AAMC, Sullivan Cotter, and MGMA physician compensation surveys preferred.

  6. Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels within the organization.

  7. Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.

  8. Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills.

  9. Ability to work with others in a team environment.

  10. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data and communicate issues, findings, and recommendations to leadership and other constituents.

  11. Initiative and time-management skills and ability to handle multiple assignments and projects of varying degrees of complexity.

  12. Accepts responsibility, initiates action, and exercises judgment to complete assignments and projects as delegated.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

• Five years of experience in administering and developing physician and other provider compensation plans preferred.
