Mediavine Business Development Representative I - (Remote - US) in Chicago, Illinois

Mediavine is seeking a Business Development Representative to join our Business Development Team, as a part of our larger Customer Success Department.

We are looking for a top-performing, proven professional to help attract top websites in the publishing world to be represented by Mediavine’s advertising business.

Position Title & Overview:

The Business Development Representative will be responsible for growing Mediavine’s list of publishers across previously untapped or underrepresented verticals. Target publishers will be those focused on gaming, automotive, technology, sports and entertainment websites to name a few.

Growing our business requires an emphasis on quality as well as quantity. The Business Development Representative will work as a part of the Customer Success Department to ensure that prospective Mediavine publishers are as extensively vetted for brand safety, traffic, and advertising performance potential as the rest of our clients. In this role, you will contribute to helping Mediavine expand its base of publishers, encourage adoption of our identity solutions, and position the company as an indispensable partner within a dynamic ecosystem.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Grow traffic and revenue in new markets such as gaming, automotive, technology, sports and entertainment for Mediavine and all of its programs and offerings

  • Actively reach out to web properties that align with Mediavine’s mission statement of building sustainable businesses for content creators

  • Participate in strategic calling and messaging to identify new business opportunities

  • Effectively manage inbound lead flow as well as executing outbound prospecting initiatives

  • Analyze prospective leads for success potential

  • Maintain active engagement with new and existing leads through creative follow-up, generating increased interest and excitement

  • Collaborate and contribute to the success of the business development and greater customer success team

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Mediavine’s products and services

  • Close small to mid tier deals in an effort to meet and exceed goals

  • Required travel on an as needed basis, for business opportunities, our annual All Hands Retreat, Team Retreats/Meetings and/or industry events/conferences (approx. 20%)

Requirements

Location:

  • Applicants must be based in the United States

You Have:

  • 1+ years of Business Development experience in the digital publishing and/or technology space

  • Prior or current experience working remotely with a distributed team of stakeholders and customers

  • An understanding of the online marketing and advertising industries

  • An understanding of sales and account management best practices; both inbound and outbound, with the ability to adjust and utilize different methods of communication to achieve goals

  • Ability to understand a customer’s needs, and navigate a conversation to present the most useful information with each interaction

  • Demonstrated ability to learn how to successfully present a value proposition

  • Ability to meet sales targets in coordination with executive and other key stakeholders within the organization

  • Strong relationship management skills, with both internal and external contacts

  • Strong proficiency with Google Suite

  • Experience with communication platforms like Slack

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities

  • Ability to travel up to 20%
