Work Schedule: 8 Hr (8:00:00 AM - 4:00:00 PM)

Summary:

General Summary: The successful candidate will provide clinical, regulatory, and technical instrumentation support for diagnostic imaging equipment (including but not limited to DX, RF, and including but not limited to DX, RF and NM modalities) under the supervision of a board certified medical physicist. The candidate will assist in meeting the requirements of general daily operations and complying with regulatory and accrediting body requirements. In addition, the candidate will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Support of acceptance and ongoing testing of diagnostic imaging equipment

• Reviewing quality assurance of diagnostic imaging equipment

• Supporting the clinical operation of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine

• Maintaining compliance to relevant regulations and accreditation requirements

• Contributing to clinical research

• Providing training and education to physicians and technologists

Other information:

Qualifications:

• MS, or PhD, degree in Medical Physics, or with a background in Physics, Engineering or related discipline

• Knowledge and expertise of radiological physics, computer data analysis, diagnostic imaging equipment, and interest in clinical service and instrumentation quality control of diagnostic imaging equipment

• Frequently able to wear 0.5 mm lead equivalent apron for a period of 4 hours.

• Frequently able to lift phantoms weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Frequently able to work standing for prolonged periods of time.

• Frequently able to visualize image artifacts in clinical images.

• Frequently perform activities that require stooping, bending and reaching, squatting, balancing, and trunk twisting throughout the day.

• Frequently able to communicate verbally and in written form.

• Frequently able to use all types of vision for moving medical equipment and visualizing image artifacts in clinical images.
