Wolters Kluwer Associate Director, Business Intelligence in Chicago, Illinois

NOTE: This position is a Hybrid role, with two-days in office (Chicago, IL)

This position will report directly to the Director of Pricing and will lead the Business Intelligence function within CE Finance.

Key Responsibilities

The Associate Director of Business Intelligence will lead a team responsible for developing and delivering analytics, reporting, and business intelligence capabilities which foster data driven decision-making and performance tracking in support of CE business objectives. This role will drive adoption of best practices for BI application development, implement a process for prioritization of enhancements, build and maintain a project and BI technology roadmap, and provide project management oversight in support of new deliverables as we continue to build out our data models and Power BI solutions.

  • Lead and mentor a team of BI analysts and data professionals, promoting collaboration, continuous learning, and excellence.

  • Ensure consistency in execution by implementing disciplined frameworks and processes in accordance with industry/product best practices for developing and delivering data solutions including business requirements gathering, resource and timeline estimates, technology architecture, documentation, stakeholder acceptance, end user training, and ongoing support.

  • Establish standard intake process for new solutions which defines objectives and supports resource requirements and prioritization.

  • Inform and align with executive leadership and other stakeholder groups across CE on the BI roadmap and prioritization. Proactively manage stakeholder expectations.

  • Implement transparent project management governance and tools to accurately track relevant project KPIs and communicate status to stakeholders and executive leadership.

  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on BI performance and its contribution to organizational goals.

  • Partner with business users to understand their business and data needs and translate their requirements into solutions that have meaningful business impact.

  • Develop strong understanding of how relevant CE systems operate in terms of data structures and flows. Create and document an enterprise data model which represents a comprehensive and standardized view of relevant CE data assets and schema.

  • Collaborate with data management teams to enhance BI application performance and availability of additional external data sources.

  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance data literacy and expand BI solution usage across the organization.

  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the impact and effectiveness of BI initiatives.

  • Drive day-to-day service delivery for BI platform, leading initiatives to improve long-term performance, system stability, scalability, resilience of services.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business analytics, computer science, IT, or a related field

Experience (Internships and Academic Projects considered):

  • 5 plus years in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, and Reporting with hands-on experience with data visualization and database tools, preferably SQL, Microsoft Power BI, and other Microsoft Fabric tools.

  • A strong understanding of data governance, data organization, and data strategy.

  • Experience working on and managing projects within a collaborative setting composed of cross-functional, technical, and non-technical personnel.

  • Strong Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deliverables in a dynamic environment.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills on cross-functional initiatives.

  • Intellectual curiosity and disciplined, business-like approach to solving problems.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Experience with Finance or Sales analytics within a SAAS business is preferred.

Travel Requirements :

  • Some limited travel may be required (0-5%).
