General Summary:

The Manager, I&D Learning is responsible for driving the I&D Learning Strategy for leadership and learning development pertaining to I&D. This role will work closely with Learning and Development, HRBPs, and the Inclusion Network to create and curate content around initiatives to integrate inclusion, diversity, and equity into wider capability solutions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Learning Development

  • Develop, implement, and manage cultural programming to connect staff from diverse cultural backgrounds, celebrate diversity, and encourage dialogue and understanding.

  • Collaborate in-person and virtually with L&D to meet complex development needs aligned to Unum’s leadership expectations.

  • Participate in the startup, initial strategy development and leadership of high profile and complex corporate or cross functional initiatives that could include working with key external partners/vendors.

  • Identify opportunities to build capability and train different parts of the organization to ensure that our talent practices are fair and equitable

  • Create I&D learning programs and develop solutions through the lens of building an inclusive environment of belonging, and ensuring selection and key decisions are fair and made without bias.

  • Provide a more relevant and strategic service for the business areas through specialist learning advice and solutions that truly impact business performance.

  • Accountable for establishing clear and achievable objectives and managing project priorities within established timelines and quality measures.

  • Partner in-person and virtually with internal and external partners to curate I&D individualized or group content.

  • Drive objectives through defined project plans; manage implementation activities, and develop processes, documentation and communications for program/process rollout and ongoing support

  • Oversee the analysis, development, delivery, implementation, and evaluation of training solutions, which may include classroom instruction, virtual learning opportunities, on-line resources, etc. for blended learning approaches.

  • Evaluate, monitor, measure and report the learning and development activities throughout the organization to promote continuous improvement through need analysis, developing plans and identifying the right resources and materials

  • Develop evaluation systems to ensure that the strategic goal of the initiatives achieve a desired return on investment in partnership with Talent Insights.

Logistics and Support

  • Manage external learning and development suppliers to deliver quality training, coaching and facilitation.

  • Identify and leverage innovative tools/solutions to effectively develop talent to ensure that the company is retaining top talent.

  • Reproduce training materials and supplies ensuring adequate quantities for upcoming events

  • Source cost-effective products and materials from vendors as needed for programs

  • Learning Management System administration including maintaining programs, conducting system intakes from cross divisional customers, troubleshooting, and solving problems for users

  • Manage all after action reviews and ensure that solutions are continuously being upgraded and updated with new information.

Partnership

  • Collaborate in-person and virtuallywith L&D to ensure leadership and personal development investments are equally provided to underrepresented groups

  • Partner in-person and virtually with L&D, HRBPs, I&D Programming and I&D Infrastructure to support programs designed to address advancement opportunities for underrepresented employees in pursuit of middle and upper management (i.e., Sponsorship programs)

  • Partner in-person and virtually with internal stakeholders on initiatives to provide an I&D perspective.

  • Support the development of P&C staff and I&D infrastructure to support inclusion as a key component to our culture

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of heritage month and I&D commemoration’ communications and programming

  • Contribute to the I&D communications strategy and plan for the I&D Team

  • Assist with communications drafting (event emails, newsletters, etc.)

Individual

  • Execute effectively by using resources efficiently, meeting deadlines, and keeping others informed of work plans and progress toward goals

  • Keep current on diversity programs and developments by developing and maintaining strong networks with others in the field (such as professional associations and educational groups, and professional development efforts)

  • Builds rapport with people inside and outside the organization

  • Maintain awareness of global issues and trends in diversity, equity and inclusion and use emerging information to educate workforce

  • May perform other duties as assigned

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, business, learning, and development or related field or equivalent related work experience is required

  • 7+ years’ experience in training, adult education, or organizational design.

  • Understands and applies core tenants of training design/methodology and adult learning principles. Synthesizes good instructional design with alternative delivery methods.

  • Direct experience in working on I&D initiatives preferred.

  • Knowledge of adult learning methodology and measurement of results in a blended learning environment, demonstrating proficiency within the learner experience and meeting business objectives.

  • Passion and commitment for addressing diversity, inclusion, social justice and equity issues, and ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures

  • Experience designing and delivering I&D learning and development content and experiences

  • Experienced in working on cultural change initiatives to build diversity, equity, and inclusion

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain on timeline without losing sight of the creative and strategic components

  • Ability to adhere to a hybrid working schedule as outlined by company policy

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$75,500.00-$135,900.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
