University of Virginia Medical Transport Communication Coordinator in Charlottesville, Virginia

Responsible for communicating coordinating and directing the deployment of personnel and equipment in the UVA-Medical Transport Network as it relates to internal medical emergency response and external ground and air medical transportation. Responsible for communicating with various internal and external customers involved with patient movement and medical center operations.

  • Understands and properly uses all communication equipment and programs.

  • Maintains safety as a primary role throughout all aspects of transport team resource coordination and multi-mode tracking of transport assets (ground vehicles and aircraft).

  • Identifies potential areas for improved care.

  • Interfaces effectively with peers and customers and assumes responsibility for professional development of self and others per department policy.

  • Performs mission critical tasks in support of patient care, emergency response, and multi-departmental support.

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned

Position Compensation Range: $17.65 - $27.36 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent required. Graduation from a BLS EMS Education Program required.

Must obtain Advanced EMT certification within three years of hire.

Experience: Communications center experience and/or basic dispatcher course/dispatch experience preferred.

Licensure: Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. AHA Health Care Provider BLA certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires sitting for prolonged periods, frequently typing/traveling and multi-tasking activities. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull > 20lbs. May be exposed to fumes, heat, noise, High-stress environment and environment prone to high-capacity sensory stimulation.
