University of Virginia Echo/Cardiac Sonographer in Charlottesville, Virginia

An Echocardiography Sonographer is a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Professional that is qualified by professional credentialing and academic and clinical experience to provide diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. The scope of practice of the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer includes those procedures acts and processes permitted by law for which the individual has received education and clinical experience has demonstrated competency and has completed the appropriate ARDMS certification which is the standard of practice in cardiac ultrasound.

  • Demonstrates the cognitive skills required to perform comprehensive echocardiograph imaging.

  • Demonstrates the technical skills and abilities required to perform comprehensive echocardiograph exams.

  • Demonstrates knowledge understanding and technical requirements for Contrast Echocardiography (LVO Doppler enhancement MCE shunt evaluation).

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $31.98 - $51.17 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Must meet the education requirement for Echocardiography Sonographer certification with either CCI or ARDMS; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Experience: No experience required; 2 years relevant experience preferred

Licensure: RCS or RDCS with CCI or RCVT with ARDMS certification within 12 months of hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping and traveling, driving (occasionally for outreach clinics); reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: Manipulation of ultrasound transducer. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 100lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, radiation, and blood/body fluids disease.
