Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a qualified Environmental Science Manager with a focus on Environmental Site Assessment and Remediation to lead the Charlotte, NC Remediation team. The Environmental Science Manager will be responsible for overseeing the performance of the Charlotte, NC team to assure internal and client-facing KPIs. The location of this position will be based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The successful candidate will be committed to the team’s success and growth. They will rigorously apply safety policies and procedures; will manage the technical, cost and schedule elements of project delivery.
The ideal candidate will effectively manage the quality of field efforts and project deliverables within the bounds of the AECOM Quality Management System. This position looks for excellent written and spoken communication skills, organizational and time management skills, flexibility to work on a range of projects, and a positive attitude.
The job responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to:
Assume management responsibilities for up to 9 remediation staff on the Charlotte team
Build, maintain and continue to facilitate relationships with key client contacts within a variety of regulatory and industrial clients
Serve as an initial focal point for issue resolution with support from the Area Manager
Develop and implement succession plans for the team and work on recruitment to continue regional growth within the South Carolina market
Coach and mentor project managers and team members on understanding business performance and internal KPIs
Works with the Area Manager to assure the local team understand and meet East Region performance goals
Acts as a point of local point of contact for project issues and makes recommendations to improve performance. This may include helping address project resource gaps, supporting technical issues, addressing local client or vendor issues etc.
Supporting cross-office department collaboration and cross-business line collaboration on project work
Work with project managers and staff to ensure consistent project management practices and procedures in alignment with AECOM’s Project Delivery and Quality Management systems.
Drive office programs and project performance to meet and/or exceed client satisfaction and internal KPIs
Develop, formulate and implement solutions of client problems/issues
Directly engage with and manage high quality client projects
Work to integrate Enterprise Capabilities and digital tools in project delivery
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of environmental consulting experience with focus in site assessment and/or remediation or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Strong understanding of federal and local environmental laws and regulations including CERCLA, RCRA, NCDEQ and SCDHEC regulations
Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review
US Citizen or US Permanent Resident
Preferred Requirements:
Understanding of AutoCAD, GIS, ArcMap/ArcGIS Pro, EQUIS
Seller-Doer with business development and client management experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience as a people manager and team builder with ability to influence others to move toward a common vision or goal
Flexible and adaptable to adjust focus between personnel, business and project/client needs.
Excellent task and time management skills.
Expected Salary – $110,000 to 130,000
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS in Environmental Science or related field + 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Valid U.S Driver’s License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records Review
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. Citizenship is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
9+ years of environmental consulting experience with focus in site assessment and remediation.
Experience as a project manager and technical lead on feasibility studies, remedial design, and remedial action oversight, including experience with design and construction of dredging and capping projects.
Strong understanding of remediation design, cost estimating and construction.
Proven understanding of federal and local environmental laws and regulations including CERCLA, RCRA, NCDEQ and SCDHEC regulations
Understanding of AutoCAD, GIS, ArcMap/ArcGIS Pro, EQUIS
Seller-Doer with business development and client management experience

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $110,000.00 - $130,000.00.
