What You Will Achieve

As part of the Animal Care Research & Development team, you will be relied on to take care of the animals used in research and development studies. You will also be responsible for maintaining inventory and animal identification records. You will have a good understanding of Pfizer's procedures, techniques, tools, materials and equipment. Your decision making will help you prioritize workflows based on the available resources. You will follow standard procedures to complete tasks and contribute to the team’s success by sharing your previously acquired knowledge.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Perform routine animal husbandry and welfare duties as directed.

  • Support research by providing basic technical services (restrain, dose administation, blood collection) to research investigators

  • Observe and report status of animal health, food and water consumption, appearance, behavior, etc.

  • Support general operations

  • Required to work with all species house at the site.

  • Manage own time professional development, is accountable for own results and prioritizes own workflow.

May be required to work under one of the following: United States Department of Agriculture Animal Welfare Act and associated Regulations and Standards, the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, Public Health Service Policy, and/or AAALAC accreditation standards.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • High School Diploma or GED with 1+ years of relevant experience

  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and ability to demonstrate level of technical skills and abilities

  • Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions

  • Basic computer knowledge, such as email, online forms, web-based training and other basic programs

  • Non-standard work schedule

Nice-to-Have

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree

  • AALAS Certification

  • Experience working in a laboratory animal setting

  • Experience working in a pharmaceutical setting

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work standing up lifting items above shoulder level for extended periods of time

  • Ability to perform repetitive physical activities such as: pushing and pulling racks of caging, lifting bags of feed and bedding, reaching, stooping and bending.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Weekend and holiday work are required

This is an Essential Personnel Role:

Essential Personnel are defined as the staff that are required to report to their designated work location, to ensure the operation of essential functions or departments during an emergency, as determined by Pfizer, or when the business has suspended operations. There are some individuals who may be required to perform essential services remotely and those individuals will be identified in advance and notified by their supervisors, but in most cases Essential Personnel are required to be on-site during an emergency or suspension of

operations.

The salary for this position ranges from $25.82 to $43.03 per hour. In addition, this position offers eligibility for overtime, weekend, holiday and other pay premiums depending on the work schedule and the Company’s policies.
