Job title: Lab Technician

Situation in organization: This position reports to the QEHS Manager.

Job dimensions: This position performs quality testing on raw materials, intermediates and final products utilizing analytical methods and instrumentation, in addition to performing quality testing and interpreting results for special projects.

Activities:

Daily Lab Operations (70 %)

  • Perform analytical procedures proficiently and interpret the results.

  • Perform routine quality control and process control testing.

  • Participate in special projects.

  • Perform adhesives performance testing accurately and timely.

  • Proper and safe handling and disposal of hazardous chemical wastes and non-hazardous lab wastes.

  • Maintain inventory of reagents, gases, etc.

  • Utilize the iLIMS for database documentation.

  • Provide and track lab training.

  • Maintain clean and safe work conditions reporting problem areas to Management.

  • Perform housekeeping duties according to the ZIC program.

  • Participate in developing ways to optimize the plant process and chemistry to improve productivity and profitability.

  • Attend applicable seminars, conferences, and training programs as requested.

  • SAP data entry.

  • Understand ISO standard and participate in annual internal auditing.

  • Other duties or training as required or requested.

    Materials Handling (10 %)

  • Maintain current knowledge of safe chemical handling procedures and Safety Data Sheets for final products, raw materials and chemicals used in the laboratory.

  • Proper handling and disposal of glassware contaminates and samples.

  • Demonstrate ability to perform hazard analysis of new chemicals brought into the facility.

    Equipment, Basic Care and Maintenance (20%)

  • Operation of equipment necessary to perform in-process and final product testing.

  • Ensure all equipment is calibrated and functional.

  • Perform basic care routines and repairs, in depth troubleshooting including equipment cleaning, lubrication, and condition monitoring.

  • Understand NIST standards and the impact on calibration.

    Context and environment

  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements.

  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Bostik(e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.).

  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents.

  • Ensure all incidents are reported and appropriately investigated and corrective actions implemented.

  • Observe safe work practices in performing all duties at all times and maintain standards of excellence in housekeeping.

  • Conform to all iGMP and SOP guidelines.

  • In depth troubleshooting abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and support other departments.

    Qualifications / experience required

  • BS degree in a related field or equivalent laboratory experience.

  • Ability to work rotating shifts or other hours as required.

  • Computer experience with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

  • Working knowledge of SPC/SQC.

  • Ability to climb stairs and lift up to 50 pounds
