Join our team as a Produce Customer Service employee at Valley Natural Foods. Qualified applicants will enjoy working with fresh fruits and vegetables, enjoy interacting with the public and be available for day shifts including weekends. Applicants must also be able to lift 30-50# regularly. Open availability is strongly preferred.

Sales Floor, Produce Prep, and Backroom
Greet and assist customers with special orders
Stock and face displays fully without overcrowding
Rotate older stock to front making space for new stock
Replenish and culling several times daily
Pull short-date or low-quality items, complete spoilage from properly and notify Produce Management of large quantities before disposing of them.
Label unscanned items accurately with price tags or signs
Keep backstock areas in order and notify Produce Manager of out-of-stocks
Check in items using the invoice to verify piece count or damage and notify Receiving of discrepancies
Prepare items according to checklists or requests per VNF standards
Sanitizes work areas, sinks, worktables, and walls according to MN DOH regulations
Follow food preparation/food handling sanitation procedures in compliance with MN DOH regulations
Update stocking list as orders arrive and rotate overstock into storage
Business Operations, Safety and Compliance
Alert Management of potential theft or other emergencies
Keep department areas - shelves, counters, aisles, backstock -- in clean, orderly condition
Remove trash promptly, clean up spills, sweep floor as needed
Keep department equipment in working order and advise Produce Manager of equipment problems
Attend Produce staff meetings and other assigned training requirements
Identifies self as employee by being in VNF attire and nametag
Perform any other duty as assigned by Management Team
Requirements
Mandatory Qualifications:
Excellent time management, organizational and communication (oral, aural, and written) skills
Attentive and able to multi-task and remain flexible to the changing needs of the business
Regular, predictable attendance
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous customer service experience
Familiarity with natural foods, grocery industry or cooperatives
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift/push/pull/carry up to 30 pounds frequently; 30-50+ pounds occasionally
Manual dexterity with ability to reach, grasp and utilize hands, wrists, and fingers for extended periods of time
General range visual acuity to evaluate and interact in working environment for extended periods of time
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
Regular exposure to working in refrigerated environments
Ability to climb ladders, kneel, crouch, and bend occasionally required
