Posting Summary
Serve as Farm Viability project manager overseeing the UVM Extension Farm Viability program. Manage staff, consultants, funder communication and program operations leading to farm business planning project deliverables. This position is also an integral outreach educator with primary responsibilities of working directly with farm business owners on financial statement preparation, financial analysis, strategic planning, succession planning and all aspects of whole farm business plan preparation. Farm business management outreach and collaboration on applied research field work offer opportunities to advance the Extension mission and partner with other programs. Outreach techniques include direct consultation, group presentations, printed publications and adaptation to new dissemination methods. Administrative responsibilities include grant management and program evaluation.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Master’s degree in agriculture, business administration or a closely related field and three years of experience in agricultural development/education and business management is required. Experience coordinating outreach educational programming. Proficiency in technical business analysis, farm financial standards and the demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with farmers and program partners.
Desirable Qualifications
Grant project oversight, Grant writing, Small business accounting, familiarity agricultural production systems, commodities, or specialty crops.
Anticipated Pay Range $58,000- $65,000

Office location located at the Berlin Extension Office.
Special Conditions Position located in different city, Weekend work required, Non-standard work hours required, Bargaining unit position, External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), Travel to and from worksites required, This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, Background Check required for this position
