Job Description

We are looking for a Project Manager to join our Disney StudioLAB innovation team, someone who wants to shape the next generation of cinematic production technology and help drive innovation across our creative pipelines. Working across a variety of projects and teams, we are looking for someone who can be responsible for coordinating the progress and completion of innovation projects ranging from proof of concepts to prototypes to products.

The Project Manager must have experience managing complex technology and engineering projects, preferably in media and entertainment (cinematic/television) space. They will be responsible for mapping out project delivery plans including timelines, blockers, and key milestones. They will be responsible for reporting on the status of projects and working across design, engineering, and product teams to ensure realistic project delivery milestones and work closely with business stakeholders and

product owners to ensure that the delivery goals align with the objectives of the business. A successful candidate will be able to adapt to different types of project needs to ensure successful project tracking

across a variety of project types and team make-ups. Maintain project backlogs and task lists

  • Develop, deliver and maintain planning tools regarding development activities

  • Capture and manage follow-up tasks from meetings and verbal discussions

  • Manage overall program schedule and resources including budget, reporting requirements and task tracking

  • Create, develop and maintain on-going communication plans for internal and external stakeholders

  • Manage wikis and similar products for document storage and revisions

  • Develop and maintain overall program schedule and resource requirements

  • Communicate regularly and reliably to wider team and peers via regular check-in meetings, email and other collaboration systems

  • Facilitate, organize, and run meetings, sprint planning sessions, discussions, and milestone reviews.

  • Identify blockers and impediments, and raise to project leadership

  • Work across teams (within StudioLAB, across the Studio Technology organization, and with external collaborators) and across projects, ensuring consistent process reporting

  • Oversee agile development process across all phases of project implementation

Skills and Requirements

  • 5 plus years of Agile technology project management

  • A proven track record of delivery successful, innovative solutions across a range of project sizes and types

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a program manager on large, complex, integrated systems

  • Experience working in a Research & Development or Innovation department

  • Experience working in technology at a large company

  • Experience working with tight deadlines and very visible high pressure project

  • Familiarity with AI/Machine Learning and cinematic technology

  • Have seasoned experience leading sprint activities (standups, sprint planning, sprint scope, release plan, backlog grooming, sprint demos, retrospectives, etc.)

  • Have strong communication skills; be aware of others' preferences, and be aware of your own biases

  • Be flexible and willing to adapt to changing needs and conditions around project delivery

  • Be a high performing individual that can deliver in a fast-paced environment

  • Familiar with JIRA and Smartsheets

  • Proactive and solution-oriented team member who can identify operational issues and recommend a path forward

  • Location: Important to have candidates that reside in the greater Los Angeles to physically go onsite 4 days per week. (Hybrid model 2 to 3 times per week)

  • BS or equivalent - Studio Technology/Cinematic Innovation project management experience null
