Job Brief

Maintains the residence in a neat and clean manner. Responsible for maintaining a clean environment internally and around the exterior of the building daily.

POSITION DUTIES:

  • Sweeps, mops and vacuums all floors/carpets and stairways throughout the facility including bedrooms.

  • Cleans all bathroom sinks, showers, tubs and mirrors.

  • Empties garbage in all rooms and offices on a daily basis.

  • Dusts and polishes all furniture and A/C vents throughout the facility. Dusts top of doors, fans, light fixtures, picture frames, TV screens, baseboards, shelves and framed photos/pictures. Wipes walls.

  • Dusts all windowsills in the facility on a monthly basis.

  • Ensures that lint is cleaned from the dryers daily and the area behind the washer is lint and debris free.

  • Responsible for all garbage removal daily and collecting all recyclable items including transporting items at a designated time and place. Brings garbage and recyclables to the curb as needed. Brings garbage cans to the side of residence after sanitation pick up.

  • Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies and submits orders for supplies when applicable.

  • Stores household supplies in their appropriate area and maintains the cabinet/closet in a neat and organized manner.

  • Organizes all cabinets/closets/storage areas in common areas.

  • Dusts based boards and heating boards..

  • Cleans elevators (if applicable).

  • Ensures that walkways are free and clear from all obstructions (old furniture, boxes, garbage, etc.).

  • Wipes down counter tops and cabinets.

  • Cleans faces of appliances (refrigerators, microwaves, and dishwashers).

  • Cleans inside of microwave.

  • Cleans kitchen fan vents.

  • Moves furniture in common areas and bedrooms and sweeps/dusts behind furniture, vacuums and mops.

  • Cleans windows and window screens.

  • Empties dirty water from buckets used to mop.

  • Sweeps area in front/back of house/walkways and removes debris.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to mop, sweep, climb ladders and use basic household equipment/appliances.

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time. Able to bend, kneel and crouch.

  • Able to frequently reach, twist, and make repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties.

  • Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull weight up to 40 lbs including the occasional moving of furniture and setting up and replacing chairs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in housekeeping and/or cleaning in a health care facility.

  • Must be able to understand and communicate in English.

  • Knowledge of OSHA Regulations. Complies with applicable OSHA Regulations regarding safe storage of cleaning supplies.

  • Ability to read printed materials and computer screens.

  • Performs all job responsibilities in full compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Adheres to the agency’s corporate compliance program, including the code of business conduct, the NYS and federal false claims acts, whistleblower protections and mandatory reporting. Completes corporate compliance training at least annually. Fully cooperates in all corporate compliance investigations and reviews.
