Summary:

Shapes and advances MetroHealth philanthropy by providing strategic leadership of a comprehensive philanthropy program for MetroHealth. Reporting to The MetroHealth Foundation President and Chief Development Officer (CDO), the Executive Director – Philanthropy has a demonstrated record of success leading comprehensive philanthropy programs, motivating high-performing fundraising teams, fostering engagement of internal and external stakeholders, and inspiring the achievement of inspirational goals. Leads the Foundation and Office of Strategic Philanthropy’s philanthropy team and implementation of fundraising strategies for major, planned giving, annual giving, and employee giving. Oversees comprehensive donor stewardship, recognition, and naming programs. Serves in a critical leadership role as a member of the department’s six-person executive team. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below. Significant demonstrated leadership experience designing and executing a comprehensive philanthropy program in a complex organization with varied priorities and stakeholders. Strong track record in developing, mentoring, and managing teams to achieve ambitious goals. Strong track record of success in soliciting and closing major and transformational gifts, and familiarity with planned giving methods. Experience in developing successful relationships with national funders. Outstanding management and planning skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a decentralized, fast paced environment. Ability to initiate, innovate, analyze, monitor, evaluate and advance strategic advancement plans Outstanding oral and written communication skills Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to project credibility and confidence to donors, volunteers, staff, and peers Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred: 10 years of related experience. Fundraising experience in a health care environment

Physical Demands: May need to move around intermittently during the day, including sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and ambulating. May need to remain still for extended periods, including sitting and standing. Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications. Ability to read job related documents. Ability to use computer. Ability to travel.
