The Electrical Engineer II – Model Based Design will collaborate with various Engineering teams to design, model, simulate, and implement innovative algorithms for our batteries, power electronics, and motors. You will be asked to extend and maintain simulation tools that enable the Milwaukee Tool business to quickly and effectively make decisions.

You will be part of the Front-End Innovation team, we are the research and development arm of Milwaukee, responsible for helping set large strategic directions through careful, innovative engineering and critical thinking. We focus on the end user and develop both strategic and specific solutions to their problems that disrupt our competition. You will be expected to operate independently and present innovative ideas to pursue. Fail fast and fail often.

You’ll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

  • Work to design, model, simulate a power tool and its various subsystems.

  • Use modeling tools such as MATLAB, Simulink and Stateflow.

  • Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and electronic loads to gather empirical data for regression fitting and model verification.

  • Conduct experiments, perform simulations, and draw concise, logical conclusions by analyzing data.

  • Collaborate with the engineering organization to identify innovative opportunities to enhance the capabilities of power tools.

  • Schedule, develop agendas for, facilitate, and document technical meetings and formal presentations.

  • Acquire knowledge and maintain an understanding of Milwaukee Tool’s development and manufacturing processes.

What TOOLS you’ll bring with you:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • 2+ years of related industry work experience OR MS in Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • Working knowledge of Matlab/Simulink model-based design, code generation and automated testing.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, exercises independent judgement and works well under pressure in a dynamic environment.

  • Self-motivated, organized, efficient, process oriented with a strong work ethic.

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time (domestic and international).
