LIFE CYCLE ENGINEERING Planner Estimator in Bremerton, Washington

Planner Estimator Position Summary: As Planner/Estimator you will provide planning and estimating of Repair Items and Ship Alterations including work definition, material identification and cost using drawings, technical documents, NAVSEA Standard Items. You will write repair work items/specifications and estimate labor, material and subcontractor work at the paragraph and line item for US Navy Ship repair work, alterations and modifications. We have current or upcoming needs for a Mechanical and Electrical Planner at this time. Clearance Required: Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a SECRET DoD Security Clearance. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Assess ship's material condition by conducting ship checks, researching ship documents, analyzing ship conditions and tests Determine scope of work required by reviewing and validating work notifications (2-Kilos) Interpret and use all technical and material information available in Navy, Shipbuilder and Manufacturer drawings, technical manuals, documents, or Equipment Manufacturer's data and/or other pertinent commercial data to identify repair and modification requirements and to identify, price and order materials. Develop work items/specifications in accordance with company and NAVSEA 4-E requirements using company and NAVSEA instructions and pertinent NAVSEA Standard Items, Class Standard Items, and Local Standard Items. Work with and in the Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) and use the available application program to develop work items/specifications and labor, material and cost estimates in accordance with company and NAVSEA instructions and directives. Required Education, Skills and Experience High School Diploma or GED Certificate Trade Level Journeyman work experience or equivalent in a Naval Repair Facility or Commercial Shipyard or 10-15 years Navy experience as Diesel Technician, Gas Turbine Technician, Electrician, Machinist Mate, or Hull Technician. Experience as a Planner, Estimator or Shipbuilding Specialist at Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair (SUPSHIP) commands, Regional Maintenance Centers (RMCs), Navy Central Planning Activities, Planning for Engineering and Repair Activities at public or private shipyards or other ship repair companies Knowledge of US Navy ship construction, shipboard systems, equipment and their operations. Experience developing production planning documents and estimates for work executed at US Navy depot level surface ship maintenance and modernization facilities. Strong oral and written communication Analytical ability to develop and maintain integrated schedules and supporting data Experience with Navy Maintenance Database (NMD) Experience with Microsoft Office suite Strong organizational skills and detail oriented Ability to work well independently and have sound judgment Ability to handle competing priorities and manage deadlines Physical Demands and Expectations: Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, and standing; frequent periods of prolonged sitting may be required. Maneuvering around tight spaces in a shipboard environment Ability to speak, read, hear, and write, with or without assistance.
