Bozeman Health System Manager of Epic Applications in Bozeman, Montana

The position of System Manager for Epic Applications entails overseeing a team of Epic Certified Application Analysts. These professionals collaborate with clinical subject matter experts to develop, refine, and maintain the Epic system using industry best practices.

Key responsibilities include independently devising and implementing solutions to address customer inquiries, challenges, and issues, while adapting to evolving priorities within the healthcare system and third-party environments. The System Manager coordinates problem resolution within their team and escalates issues as needed. They play a pivotal role in both the initial installation planning and the ongoing support of Epic, delegating tasks effectively to their team members.

Position Summary:

The System Manager of Epic Applications is responsible for managing the Epic Certified Application Analysts. These staff are responsible for working with clinical subject matter experts (SMEs) to design, build, validate, test, optimize, and support the Epic system based on best practice methods.This role is responsible for independently formulating and implementing solutions to respond to and resolve customer requests, issues, and problems, while meeting the changing demands and priorities of the health system and the third-party environments. This role will coordinate issues within their teams and escalate as appropriate. The System Manager Epic Applications is expected to be involved in not only the install planning, but also the long-term support of Epic and will need to be able to effectively delegate projects and tasks to the team. Additionally this role will manage the team resources to ensure analysis of workflows is in-depth, data collection is thorough, report details are adequate, and other technical requirements required are achieved so the users’ needs are met. The System Manager Epic Applications will create and follow system standards related to workflow analysis, system specifications generation, proof of concept validation and sign off, system configuration, application and integrated testing, change control, training, and implementations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or healthcare administration or equivalent work experience (4+ years)

  • Current Epic Certification(s)

  • Three years’ experience in Epic implementations or experience with implementing and supporting large integrated systems in a healthcare organization

  • Five years’ supervisory experience

  • Seven years’ of progressive, relevant experience (healthcare or IT) required

Preferred

  • Current certification (Epic, HL7, Project Management, or ITIL)

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting, Pushing, and Pulling: Lift 50 pounds of weight (pick up materials, move equipment, etc.) Carry equipment/supplies. Use upper body strength (repair and maintenance work, etc.)

  • Extended Hours: The role may involve working for extended periods, requiring sitting, walking, or standing for eight or more hours daily.

  • Flexible Schedule: The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.

  • On-Call Availability: On-call work may be required to respond to organizational and patient needs promptly.

  • Effective Communication: Proficient in effective communication, both in person and through various technologies.

  • Handling Challenging Situations: The role may involve dealing with upset individuals, requiring the ability to de-escalate situations and work effectively with frustrated patients or families

  • Repetitive Tasks: Ability to perform repetitive tasks as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.

Tasks Include Potential Exposure: Job tasks may involve exposure to:

  • Bloodborne pathogens, such as blood, bodily fluids, or tissues.

  • Radiation in settings where medical imaging procedures are performed

  • Various chemicals and medications used in healthcare settings. Job tasks may involve handling cleaning products, disinfectants, and other substances.

  • Infectious diseases due to contact with patients in areas that may have contagious illnesses
