Wood County Hospital Unit Supervisor - Acute Care in Bowling Green, Ohio

Wood County Hospital is now accepting applications for a Unit Supervisor in our Acute Care department. The supervisor will serve as the secondary leadership for the department/unit’s daily operations and provide 24/7 oversight in collaboration with the Department Director. The supervisor will help assist with patient care, either directly or indirectly.

Job Description:

  • Working knowledge of scope of practice, current trends, and standards of care, and regulatory/accrediting requirements relevant for the department/unit.

  • Knowledge of and skill in using instrumentation/ equipment for patient care utilized in the unit/department including but not limited to IV pumps, PCA pumps, and monitors or defibrillators.

  • Serves/acts as a resource based on current standards of nursing care, including auditing of patient medical records for documentation and risk management issues.

  • Provides leadership and accountability for the daily clinical operations of the department/unit in the assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of safe, quality, timely, compassionate, and cost-effective direct and indirect care delivered to the department/unit’s patient populations. 

  • Collaborates with the Department Director to assess and address staff competency deficiencies.

  • Supports the mission, values, and vision of the organization.

    Shift: Full Time, 40 hours per week

    Hours: 6:45 AM - 4:15 PM

    *Ability to work assigned flexible hours as needed, including those beyond the normal shift or for on-call work/response as required by  unit. *

    Education and Work Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited program for nursing education, bachelor’s degree in nursing  (BSN) required or must be currently enrolled with expected graduation within 2 years.   Master’s degree in nursing , Business, or Healthcare Administration a plus. 

  • Current licensure to practice professional Nursing in the State of Ohio (RN).

  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider

  • CPR (BLS) certification required.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification  required; Pediatric  Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.  

  • Minimum of 2 years of management experience required.

  • Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in Acute Care department.
