Step into Your New Role Kleinfelder is seeking a professional to join our growing Ohio engineering team. The ideal candidates will participate in and contribute to a diverse range of engineering projects and services in our team-oriented environment. The Structural Department Manager will provide direction and expertise on engineering projects and will provide training and mentorship to the junior engineering staff. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing technical solutions for a wide range of projects through the application of engineering knowledge and skills to support permitting and compliance needs for a diverse client base. As the Structural Department Manager, your responsibilities would include overseeing and coordinating the activities of the structural engineering department in accordance with company policies. This involves scheduling department staff to fit individual skill sets to project goals, meeting project schedules, meeting department utilization goals, championing a culture of safety and quality, setting development goals for team members, conduction yearly staff assessments, and collaborating with other departments. Other duties include assistance in preparing scope and fee proposals for the structural portion of projects. Strong leadership, collaboration, project management, and technical skills are essential for success in this role. Our structural team works for a diverse portfolio of clients, including municipal, state, federal, higher education, and private industry. Our structural team works as lead on many industrial projects and as consultants for many other disciplines or clients. Responsibilities include gravity and lateral systems conceptual design; performing analysis and design of structures; preparing calculations; preparing contract drawings and specifications; estimating costs; reviewing shop drawings and erection procedures; and performing construction administration duties. This position is also responsible for mentoring graduate engineers-in-training; delegating work to engineers-in-training; and reviewing their work product. To be qualified for this role, you must possess:

10+ years of demonstratable structural design experience, including experience in the engineering, analysis, and drafting of wastewater/water treatment facilities, medium to large industrial facilities, medium commercial facilities, and educational facilities.

Experience in the design of steel, concrete, timber, masonry, and cold-formed steel.

Experience in seismic and high-wind region design and detailing.

Experience in design and detailing for structures above Risk Category II (Risk Category III and Risk Category IV essential structural).

ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in civil engineering.

P.E. registration with the ability to attain P.E. registration in Ohio and Michigan within 90 days of start date.

Knowledge of structural finite element analysis (FEA) engineering applications such as RISA 3D, RISA Floor, RISA Foundation, RISA Connection, and L-Pile. Experience using other FEA programs is acceptable (such as SAP2000, ETABS, RAM).

Knowledge of Bluebeam Revu PDF markup software.

Ability to mentor younger staff shown through prior experience.
