The Department of Physical Therapy at WKU invites applications for an 11- month Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor with responsibilities as Associate Director of Clinical Education beginning July 1, 2024. A Clinical Assistant Professor is a continuing, non-tenure-eligible faculty member whose responsibilities are primarily focused on teaching clinical discipline students in the classroom, laboratory, simulation and/or practice setting.

Responsibilities and Minimum Qualifications:

Primary responsibilities will be to teach in the entry-level (DPT) program and assist in the management of the clinical education component of the curriculum. In addition to teaching DPT students, this position requires the ability to mentor students, conduct and publish research, serve the University, profession, and community, as well as work well with faculty within the Program, College, and University.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Essential Success:

Ability to teach in one or more of the following areas: Gross Anatomy, Physical Modalities, Pharmacology, Cardiopulmonary, Neuromuscular Assessment and Rehabilitation, Research in Physical Therapy.

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified candidates will be graduates of a CAPTE-accredited physical therapist program

  • A doctorate in Physical Therapy or an earned doctorate in a related discipline is required for this clinical faculty position appointment.

  • The candidate must have a current license to practice physical therapy and be eligible for licensure by the Kentucky Board of Physical Therapy

  • A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a licensed physical therapist*

  • Experience as a clinical instructor
