Job Summary

The Student Academic Success Center at CU Boulder welcomes applications for the Program Manager, TRiO Student Support Services position! This full-time (1.00 FTE) university staff position is the operations manager of The University of Colorado Boulder TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) Project. The current grant is funded through 2025. It has been renewed since 1985.

The Program Manager reports to the Program Director. The Manger works as part of a collaborative 3-member team to implement the plan of operations and serves as a delegate on independent projects. The Manger will hire, train, and supervise student hourly employees in student leadership roles.

The Manager contributes to the outreach cycle of recruitment, admissions, and orientation; the retention cycle of coaching, instruction, and enrichment activities; the financial cycle of budget, procurement, and reconciliation (including scholarship disbursement and work study requests); and the evaluation cycle of data collection, assessment, and reporting.

This position handles a high-contact model of student success into a 6-year pathway of academic services that improves recruitment, persistence, graduation, and post-baccalaureate outcomes for eligible participants. This position requires collegiality, professionalism, and problem-solving initiative under a high-volume, highly collaborative workload.

Who We Are

The TRiO SSS Project is a federally funded education opportunity program that serves 200+ TRiO-eligible students as part of the pre-college to post-baccalaureate pathway in the Student Academic Success Center (SASC). SASC is an educational opportunity center in the Office of Undergraduate Education within Academic Affairs. We are a mission-inspired learning community of students, faculty, and staff from backgrounds that are historically underrepresented, under-resourced, or under-served at the University of Colorado Boulder. We have a 50+ year history of supporting student success on our flagship campus.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Program Management:

Manages daily operations of this educational opportunity program through its annual cycle from high school outreach to alumni relations. Works with the Director to implement plan of operations, including scholarship disbursement, workshop facilitation, enrichment activities, and collaborative projects with center, campus, and community partners. Hires, trains, and supervises student hourly employees in student leadership roles. Performs delegated independent duties to ensure delivery of required and permissible services based on logic model.

Academic Management:

Mentors a multi-cohort caseload of TRiO SSS Scholars to support whole-student model of personal, academic, and professional success. Coordinates small group coaching sessions on academic success, financial literacy, and career readiness. Develops advocacy, enrichment, and success plans for individual students based on high-need or high-risk factors informed by national practices. Assists students in skill-building and goal-planning from matriculation to graduation.

Records Management:

Works with Director to design and implement record management for program assessment and budget planning, including formative and summative evaluation of services, staffing, and resources. Coordinates and contributes to improvements of all record-keeping systems, caseload files, financial documents, and collaborator reports. Works with Director on collecting, assessing, and applying annual performance data.

Communications Management:

Works with Director to implement multimedia communication plan for engagement of participants; training staff; stewardship of donors; and outreach to alumni. Designs and maintains website, newsletter, and social media accounts. Works with Director on strategic relations material for internal and external collaborators as required.

What We Can Offer

The salary for this position is $53,000 - $55,000.

What We Require

  • A Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field. A combination of education and experience may be substituted for the degree on a year for year basis.

  • One (1) year of experience administering an educational opportunity program at a 2-year or 4-year institution OR one (1) year of experience teaching, advising, or supervising undergraduate students from TRiO-eligible backgrounds.

  • Master's degree in education or a related field may substitute for the one (1) year of experience listed above.

What You Will Need

  • Knowledge of TRiO legislation, regulation, and history or the immediate capacity to develop this expertise.

  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of student development in academic mentoring and employment supervising roles.

  • Skills in data management and social media marketing.

  • Ability to facilitate multi-modality workshops and services for on-campus on on-line participants.
