This is an outpatient position with expectations for high quality, in-depth diagnostic work across pediatric communication disorders and differences including in language development, speech production, fluency, and social communication. Speech-language therapy is also part of this position.
This Speech & Language Pathologist I will be responsible for…
Performing evaluations and treatment, within the scope of SLP practice per ASHA standards, as assigned.
Interviewing and counseling families and patients regarding communication status.
Planning and implementing case management, follow-up, and referrals for patients.
Documenting and reporting the results of communication evaluations and treatment.
Complying with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Attending program meetings and participating as assigned.
Contributing and sharing knowledge, materials, resources, and handouts across team members including at program meetings, via email, and within program drive / repository for common use.
Dedication to ongoing individual professional growth by participating in continuing education activities, reading professional journals, mastering use of new equipment and technologies; fostering professional growth of other staff by sharing information gained through continuing education.
Completing program tasks (e.g., intake triage, responding to program inquiries) and hospital in-services (e.g., fellows’ presentations) as assigned.
Work requires well-honed analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems.
Well-developed written communication is required.
To qualify you must have…
License in Speech-Language Pathology from the Division of Professional Licensure, Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC SLP) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association
Master's Degree or higher in Speech Language Pathology
Additional Information
The new employee will require initial training and mentoring from senior staff at other Boston Children’s locations.
This position requires occasional Saturday coverage in Waltham clinic.
