Join Takeda as a Data Governance Lead where you will help shape and implement a robust strategy across US stakeholders to institutionalize and mature robust Data Governance solutions and processes, informed by Takeda’s value creation framework. As part of the USBU DDT Team you will report to Data Platforms Lead and work with Key Stakeholders.

How you will contribute:

  • Contribute to setting a clear vision, guiding principles, and purpose of the commercial data strategy by executing effective data governance which promote FAIR data principles.

  • Contribute to defining data management strategies to ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across all systems and platforms.

  • Collaborate with governing bodies, i.e. Legal, Privacy, E&C, IT Security, EDAS, to assess impact of regulations, mitigate risk, and contribute to adequate solutioning applying industry best practices.

  • Develop and implement data governance policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with organizational objectives.

  • Participate in cross-functional teams to drive alignment between data governance and business objectives.

  • Participate with stakeholders in assessing data needs to infer implications for data governance solutions (i.e. catalog, marketplace, etc.).

  • Provide guidance on data architecture and technology solutions to support data governance initiatives.

  • Assess current data management processes and identify gaps and areas for improvement.

  • Partner with stakeholders across business units, COBS, and DD&T to drive resolution of complex and emerging data challenges and opportunities (i.e. AI, GenAI).Establish efficient and agreed upon data governance frameworks and solutions for data access, usage, and security.

  • Lead efforts to identify, classify, and catalog data assets across the organization.

  • Implement metadata management processes to capture and maintain data lineage, definitions, and relationships.

  • Identify proof of concepts and pilots with clear measurements of success to reinforce importance of data strategy and governance.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field required, Master's degree in Computer Science or relevant discipline desired.

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in the biotech/pharma industry, with a deep understanding of industry-specific data requirements and regulatory considerations.

  • Demonstrated experience managing or governing processes in data analytics, data warehousing, data lakes, and/or data science, or comparable experience required.

  • Profound understanding of data governance principles, methodologies, and best practices, with hands-on experience implementing data governance frameworks and solutions.

  • Strong knowledge of syndicated data sources and common commercial biotech/pharma ecosystems, with a proven ability to leverage these resources effectively.

  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams, with a focus on fostering collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

  • Experience working in a global matrixed environment across organizational boundaries, demonstrating effective leadership in solutioning complex challenges.

  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and experience working in agile environments, with knowledge of concepts such as DevOps, Design Thinking, Data Products, and Data Mesh.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$149,100.00 - $234,300.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
