Micron is looking for an experienced Compute, Storage and Data Protection Leader that can lead the Systems and Storage group for the new ID1 Fab expansion in Boise.

This person should have the demonstrated ability to attract, hire and retain top talent and a deep technical understanding of the technologies related to server, storage and data protection technologies. You are encouraged to enable a frictionless and scalable infrastructure for our users through the use of automation and Cloud services (public, private, hybrid, IaaS, PaaS), while continuing to drive improvements within existing solutions including Windows/Linux, VMWare, Enterprise Storage (SAN/NAS), and backup methodologies. This role is primarily responsible for ensuring that all systems services and storage are ready for initial production start up, as well as developing and training new team members in those disciplines.

In this role you will be responsible all compute and storage requirements for the ID1 expansion. You will also: Establish standards and provide documentation for standards and current state design that allow for scalable and reliable transition of technologies into operations; act as forward thinking and innovation source for the areas of responsibility; act as Level 3 troubleshooting resource as needed.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Hire and onboard new team members as well as deliver training or training mechanisms.

  • Be able to mentor new team members and manage performance management of team.

  • Responsible for high degree of uptime with systems and storage that support the factory.

  • Responsible for all monitoring, alerting, and notifications for systems issues.

  • Participate in a 24x7 On Call rotation.

  • Ensure that all compute and storage needs for the expansion are budgeted and purchased to meet factory startup milestones.

  • Responsible for managing budget within +-1% variance.

  • Leverage forward thinking methodologies (Agile, DevOps, Infrastructure as Code) that promote speed and quality of products delivered

  • Collaborate to engineer modern solutions that meet the fast pace development required by Micron’s business

  • Work with corporate and factory partners to define, design and implement core cloud, hardware, and operating system solutions

  • Leverage automation, advanced monitoring and tools to ensure efficient and scalable management of solutions

  • Collaborate with project teams to provide infrastructure implementation estimates

  • Ensure strategic alliance for designed solutions, leveraging multi-functional and global teams

  • •Research and develop future roadmaps, strategies and technical visions for site.

  • Audit the operational systems states for compliance to design and standards specifications

Education

Required:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent work related experience in one of the following: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field of study.

Experience

2-3 years experience in any of the following:

  • Working with network architectures, TCP/IP, name resolution and directory services

  • Working with SAN and NAS storage, system backup processes, Fibre Channel switches

  • Working with Microsoft Windows Server, Solaris, or Red Hat Linux operating systems, VMware, Citrix, utilities, monitoring tools, and commands

  • Working with Enterprise class server hardware technologies used in a data center

  • Deep technical knowledge of one or more of the following: Cloud and hybrid Cloud solutions (AWS, Google, Azure, HPE Helion, Cisco ACI)

  • Server Technologies – Hardware and Software (HPE, Cisco, Dell, Windows, Linux)

  • Hypervisor Technologies (VMWare, KVM, Hyper-V)

  • Storage Technologies – Hardware and Software (Amazon Cloud Drive, Azure Storage, AFA, VSAN, NetApp, EMC)

  • Backup Solution Technologies – Hardware and Software (Cloud Archives, TSM, Data Protection Manager)

  • Good communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, interpersonal)

  • Capable of leading technology change with excellent strategic and technical thought leadership

  • Solid skills in decision-making, prioritization and negotiation

  • Successful in building high-performance, self-managing teams

Desired

  • 4 years experience in any of the following:

  • Scripting (VB script, PowerShell, PERL, Python, Bash, etc.) or other programming

  • Working with complex integrated server solutions such as SharePoint, SQL Server, LDAP, Exchange, etc.

  • Working with ITIL Processes and Business Process Management

Workplace

Travel Required? Yes, 1-3 times per year, both domestically and possibly internationally.

  • Office environment, Shift: 8+ hour shift, 5 days a week,

  • Occasional mornings, nights, and weekends to meet international time zones.

  • Participation in a 24x7 on call rotation.
