The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for leading, coordinating, designing and controlling the technical activities related to new or existing power supplies, Lithium Ion battery chargers, and EVSE controllers. Ensures that designs meet all product performance, quality, safety and regulatory standards. Will provide work direction to other team members.

What Will You Do?  

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:  

  • Creates engineering designs for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) controllers and supports the integration into new and existing products.

  • Creates engineering designs for AC-DC and DC-DC Power Supplies and supports the integration into new and existing products.

  • Creates engineering designs for Lithium Ion battery chargers and supports the integration into new and existing products.

  • Works with external partners and suppliers on the development of power supplies and battery chargers.

  • Develops technical documentations of requirements, specifications and test plans.

  • Ensures product compliance with internal and external certification requirements.

  • Supports development and implementation of Lithium Ion battery charging algorithms.

  • Performs engineering analysis of field issues and supports design improvements or corrective actions.

  • Interfaces and acts as the technical consultant of battery charging systems for new product development groups and cross functional teams.

  • Effectively communicates with stake-holders both internally and externally.

  • Stays up to date on the state-of-the-art on battery charging systems and related technologies through professional organizations, independent research and seminars.

  • Performs other duties and assignments as requested.

    What Do You Need?  

    To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an ABET accredited Electrical engineering program.

  • Experience

  • Level III: Minimum 4 – 7 years’ experience in a product design role as an electrical engineer.

  • Level II: Minimum 2 – 4 years’ experience in a product design role as an electrical engineer.

  • Experience designing, implementing, and testing AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies or battery charging systems is required.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of system design and integration of power supplies or chargers into battery powered products is required.

  • Experience in Electric Vehicle charging systems is preferred, but not required.

  • Knowledge of common EV communication protocols such as CAN J1939 and EVSE is preferred.

  • Experience with product certification and regulatory approval process is preferred.

  • Experience in Lithium-Ion battery packs and battery management systems (BMS) is preferred.

  • Experience in developing embedded software is a plus

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Results-driven and action-oriented; positive and energetic.

  • Good problem-analysis and resolution skills.

  • Strong process orientation and drive for continuous improvement

  • Desire to work in a fast paced, challenging, and evolving environment with a team-first mindset

  • Able to multitask and manage multiple simultaneous projects of various complexities and size

  • Has demonstrated a high level of competency through successful completion of projects.

Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
