European Calibration Services Engineer – Job Description

Position Objective:

Deliver a professional service to internal customers by managing the calibrated tools list to ensure all tools are calibrated in a timely manner and in accordance to SOP’s and WI’s.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for managing the operational side of the European Calibration Services, which will include monitoring the tool list and communicating return cycle to engineers, arranging logistics, laboratory environment management, accurate tool verification and calibration, database administration and managing maintenance of the laboratory and test equipment.

Will be calibration engineer and will use agreed work instructions and SOP’s to ensure all work performed is in accordance with ISO standard 17025.

Will be responsible for communicating outstanding tasks to secondary calibration engineer (backup), to ensure continuous service in the event of vacation/ sickness etc.

Will meet monthly with Supervisor Field Service to discuss the past months performance of the ECS and the workload of the coming month to see if additional support is required. During these meetings the following will be discussed:

• Turnaround time for tool calibrations

• The number of unscheduled calibrations or repairs.

• Any unforeseen requisitions that will be entered in the coming month.

• Any outstanding complaints

Will be responsible for dealing with approved suppliers to arrange tool repair and calibration when required.

There is no involvement in any activities that would diminish confidence in competence, impartiality, judgement, or operational integrity.

Will be responsible for training support staff that may be required to work in the ECS laboratory. This will include training and supervising work until the trainee has been signed off as competent.

May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.

Education:

Must have completed laser safety training and be familiar with the ECS Quality Manual: MAN0005689 and ECS Quality Policy: POL0000189.

Experience/Requirements:

Must be computer literate and possess basic troubleshooting skills. Must also have good attention to detail and produce accurate administration and be able to demonstrate reproducible work.

Working Conditions:

Will be based in the ECS laboratory. May have to stand for long periods while performing duties. Must have performed laser safety training. Occasional travel will be required.
