Job Description

Position Title: ETRM System Administrator I, II, III, or Sr.

OPEN UNTIL FILLED

Position Purpose:

Responsible for the administration of small to medium finance and engineering applications through defined processes. Support small to medium projects serving as a contact between IT, the application owners and users, and external solution providers. Supports compliance efforts with IT standards. This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the collaboration with business units to gather technical requirements. Analyze the existing application environments and leverage this analysis in recommending and implementing solutions.

  • Partner with business analysts, in gathering and reviewing business requirements; provide analysis, architectural and technical guidance to design, develop, test, configure, upgrade, and maintain business applications and processes.

  • Communicate project updates and manage expectations to ensure stakeholder satisfaction. Identify and document risks, issues, or critical success factors that may require immediate action. Ensure cost of ownership and return on investment of various alternatives.

  • Basic understanding of Regional Transmission Operator and Independent System Operator power market structures

  • Basic Knowledge of physical and financial instruments – purchase, sale, buy-sell, logistics, inventory, futures, swaps, options, etc.

  • Assist with direction; in the planning, coordinating, and implementing security measures, and control processes to safeguard computer systems and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Provide support for assigned business applications including problem resolution and after-hours support.

  • Facilitate communication by keeping the appropriate team members, departments, and stakeholders up to date to ensure successful technical outcomes. Participate in meetings communicating project status and action items to team members, stakeholders, and sponsors.

  • Work on teams that are assigned software projects of varying size and assist in defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables.

  • Participate in cross-functional teams to conduct assessments of the current state and constraints for defining the future state of and technology architectures of ETRM solutions including functional and technical assessments; and provide input to the strategic direction of ETRM technology for maximum return.

  • With assistance schedule and connect the technical delivery of data integration within a framework of business applications.

  • Coordinate and implement usability and configuration enhancements to extend software functionality; and maintain software changes.

Qualifications :

ETRM System Administrator I:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, computer or software engineering or related field; or

  • Associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, computer or software engineering, or related field; and 2 years of related experience; or

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED); and 4 years of Basic analytical, problem-solving, IT development experience.

ETRM System Administrator II:

  • Bachelor's degree in in computer science, information technology, computer or software engineering, or related field and; 3 years of related experience working with the development, administration, and implementation of enterprise business applications; or

  • Associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, computer or software engineering, or related field; and 5 years of related IT experience; or

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED); and 7 years of related IT experience.

ETRM System Administrator III:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, computer or software engineering or related field and 5 years of related IT experience working with the development, administration, and implementation of enterprise business applications; or

  • Associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, computer or software engineering or related field and 7 years of related IT experience; or

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 9 years of related IT experience.

Senior ETRM System Administrator:

  • Bachelor’s degree in in computer science, information technology, computer or software engineering, or related field and 7 years of related IT experience working with the development, administration, and implementation of enterprise business applications; or

  • Associate’s degree in in computer science, information technology, computer or software engineering, or related field and 9 years of related IT experience; or

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 11 years of related IT experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Knowledge of application development and lifecycles; implementation of applications; procedural language; Structured Query Language (SQL), C#, Java, and relational database concepts.

  • Basic knowledge of computer system networking and architecture.

  • Able to prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Good communication and organizational skills.

  • Proficient with personal computers and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Able to manage and deliver technical solutions.

  • A valid driver’s license.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position and to move about the office building, occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, constant use of a keyboard/computer and other office productivity machinery, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires the ability to communicate and must be able to clearly exchange accurate information. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures, and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. Will work under pressure and manage tight deadlines. Occasional travel may be required.
