Ford is embarking on an exciting journey into the world of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and we need a skilled architect to guide the way! We are actively developing our capabilities in Large Language Models, Computer Vision, and Machine Learning platforms, and we need a passionate AI/ML SME Architect to support our Product Teams.

This technical solution architect will be proactively and consistently engaged with GDIA IT & Business Teams to support delivery of a framework to enable Large Language Model solutions, Artificial Intelligence applications, and Machine Learning for the enterprise.

What you'll do…

  • The AI/ML Architect will participate in strategy development, requirements analysis, various PDO team sessions supplying communication of standards, new technology needs assessments, discovery work based on capability gaps as well. Additional responsibilities include engagement with Technical Anchors, backlog planning, and technology planning to support current/future release activities

  • Employ Architectural knowledge related to AI and ML as well as standard DevOps pipelines to assist with Data Science objectives in terms of developing a democratized and re-usable ML platform in Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

  • Awareness and implementation of standard DevOps tools such as Git, Tekton, Docker (containerization), CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with data tools and compute platforms such as Kubernetes, and GCP environments in influencing strategy of design of the Mach1ML platform and underlying MLOps processes to support democratized machine learning.

  • Awareness and implementation of Generative AI technologies, strategies and concepts.

  • Awareness of AI tools/libraries/supporting infrastructures such as: Lang Chain, Stable Diffusion, Python, Python Notebooks, Tensor flow, Vertex AI, Kubeflow, Kubernetes, CaaS, PyTorch and XGBoost to enable long term sustainable capabilities in the Mach1ML platform.

  • Knowledge of package and container repositories (e.g., Nexus/Portas/Quay).

  • Stay on top of industry developments in AI and ML solutions, Kubernetes, API strategies and micro-services, Streaming platforms such as Kafka, etc. to be able to provide sustainable Architectural mentorship on resolving capability gaps and addressing new customer requirements.

  • Provide architectural mentorship and recommends appropriate technologies and application to be used to enable strategic data management, model management, and risk considerations to ensure Mach1ML platform is scalable, reliable, and performant.

  • Engage with Product Owners, Product Managers, Technical Anchors and other PDO team SME’s— acting in a consultative capacity to advise, recommend, strategize, and contribute to delivery landmarks. Maintain open channels of communication by providing relevant information, technical expertise, and recommended standard methodologies.

  • Maintain and disseminate awareness of:

  • Technology roadmaps regarding architecture related deliverables, new technologies to support platform goals as well as discovery work needed to support new capability assessments.

  • Knowledge of architecture standards as well as how those standards relate to PDO teams and their delivery work.

You'll have…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience working in large-scale, diverse IT environments

  • 3+ years of IT architecture experience

  • 2+ years of AI/ML experience (including internship/co-op/course work)

  • 2+ years of Cloud Experience- Google Cloud Platform preferred; Google Kubernetes Engine, Azure, AWS or similar is acceptable

Even better, you may have…

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field Experience with crafting high-availability, highvolume, low-latency technologies

  • Previous experience, operating at a senior level, on multiple or large-scale projects and incorporating all levels of architecture development

  • Ability to lead and identify business requirements and resolve operational impacts and system changes to meet the business objectives

  • Provide leadership direction and accountability for strategic application architecture plans, system design, and implementation

  • Ability to collaborate with architects and technology delivery team to define architectural approaches and solutions.

  • Understanding of Generative AI and Large Language Model associated design / implementation patterns.

  • Understands containerization strategies and Kubernetes based infrastructures.

  • Proven architecture and operational experience in various environments like OpenShift (CaaS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, as well as open-source products in the dev ops and ML space.

  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code for deployment, such as Terraform.

  • Strong leadership, project and team building skills – ability to lead teams and drive projects and initiatives by working effectively with others with a proven track record to work crossdepartmentally

  • Strong collaborator – willingness to share ideas, documentation, and standard methodologies

  • Experience integrating with other IT Systems (Financial Systems, Reporting, Project Management, etc.)

This position is a range of salary grades 7-8 .
