As a senior member of the Technology Innovation R&D and Chocolate leadership teams, you develop strategies and ensure that technical, scientific, and business programs are successfully delivered and that resources are effectively managed.

Specifically in this role, you will l ead Technology Innovation & Process Platforms building out a portfolio of transformational process capabilities to deliver new sources of growth, address our sustainability goals and deliver bottom line value to our Business Unit’s around the world. You & your team will design, develop and optimize our category processes to support current & future innovation.

This team is organised by Category and this role specifically will lead the Chocolate category, ensuring that we are able to deliver our committed programs. There will also be an increasing focus and requirement to lead on cross category Technology and Process opportunities to unlock our growth, innovation and productivity ambitions.

This role also has accountability for governance of the broader productivity program and will take the lead in partnering with colleagues in Procurement and MSC to identify and deliver Breakthrough Productivity opportunities for our businesses at an enterprise level.

In addition, the role has accountability for the Bournville Chocolate pilot plant operations and future planning.

How you will contribute

You will translate business needs into robust research strategies and lead your team to utilize technology to deliver consumer-centric and competitively advantaged products. Successfully discover new science and technology, using internal expertise and external partners to accelerate innovation and efficiency. In addition, you will build a balanced project portfolio to deliver against financial targets and manage resources effectively. In this role, you will use your influencing skills to partner with senior leaders, communicating the impact and benefits of research. You will also help create a culture of collaboration across the global community, identifying and applying best practices and ways of working and protect intellectual property to build a competitive advantage. As a people leader, you will grow a diverse talent base that meets our business needs and helps build the global pool of R&D talent.

What you will bring

A desire to drive your future and accelerate your career and the following experience and knowledge:

  • Significant technical strategy development experience in a technical R&D or similar environment

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Food Engineering or equivalent discipline

  • Ensuring that research programs drive commercial outcomes, ideally in a fast-moving consumer goods environment

  • Influencing business strategy through critical thinking and technical thought leadership

  • Working collaboratively across functions, geographies and with internal and external partners to land the agenda

  • Coaching and mentoring others

  • Creating a culture of technical curiosity and collaboration

  • 10% international travel may also be required
