Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Accounts Receivable Follow-Up Specialist to join our team. This Medical Accounts Receivable Follow-Up Specialist is a contract to full-time position and ideal for candidates close to the Birmingham, Alabama area. As the Medical Accounts Receivable Follow-Up Specialist, you will be responsible for processing claims, following up on denials, answering patient inquiries, communicating with insurance companies, conducting accounts receivable (AR) reviews, and ensuring timely payments from insurance providers.

Responsibilities:

  • Process medical claims accurately and efficiently.

  • Follow up on denied claims to determine reasons for denial and take necessary action for resubmission or appeal.

  • Communicate with patients to address billing inquiries and provide clarification on insurance coverage and payments.

  • Liaise with insurance companies to resolve claim issues, verify coverage, and expedite payment.

  • Perform thorough reviews of accounts receivable to identify and resolve discrepancies or outstanding balances.

  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding insurance claims to ensure timely payment.

  • Collaborate with the billing team to streamline processes and improve overall revenue cycle management.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of all interactions and transactions related to accounts receivable.

    Requirements

  • Previous experience in medical billing, accounts receivable, or revenue cycle management.

  • Proficiency in medical billing software and knowledge of medical coding (e.g., ICD-10, CPT).

  • Strong understanding of insurance claims processing, including knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, insurance companies, and internal stakeholders.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare regulations.
