As Staff software architect, you’ll be responsible for technically leading the team with complete ownership of design, quality, and technical roadmap of next generation platform solutions.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Participate in the domain technical and business discussions relative to future architect direction.

  • Assist in the analysis, design and development of a roadmap and implementation based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint.

  • Support the development software with reusable components that can be orchestrated together into different methods.

  • Research and evaluate emerging technology, industry and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities.

  • Collaborate with software developers to implement solutions that are aligned with and extend shared platforms and solutions.

  • Apply Agile principles of SDLC and methodologies, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques.

  • Provide technical leadership for team to follow design best practice and customer first mindset

  • Act as a member of the Software council, representing the face of high quality design and defining forward looking technology roadmap.

  • Collaborate with Architects, Technical Leads, Product Owners and Software Developers to ensure coverage of functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Propose high performing, scaling and innovative end-to-end solutions.

  • Apply principles of SDLC, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques in alignment of Healthcare domain.

  • Participate architecture / design reviews and ensure meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project.

  • Ensure performance and security parameters are adhered by the development team.

  • Own the analysis, design and development of a roadmap and implementation based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint.

  • Conceptualize and drive new features with Proof of Concepts to achieve solutions beyond product areas and influence product roadmap.

  • Fully own the life cycle of the platform - sustaining engineering that supports forward production and installed base, current development and seeding impactful innovations that feed into future iterations of the platform.

  • Represent the platform technology in internal, external and customer forums and in leadership meetings at multiple levels in the organization.

  • Research and evaluate emerging technology, industry, and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities.

  • Collaborates with Principal Engineers, cross-functional team architects, to understand their evolving requirements and translates them to architectural runway features and executes them.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience with history of technical innovation

  • Experience building scalable, distributed systems using modern frameworks such as AWS

Essentials Skills

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in object-oriented design and programming in a production software environment using Agile development methodologies.

  • Proven background as a technical leader and architect for end-to-end systems & experiences.

  • Proven ability to quickly ramp-up on complex and unfamiliar code, and ability to pick up new languages/frameworks as needed.

  • Strong debugging skills, working with existing, complex code base

  • Experience in medical device software development and associated tools for high quality code and knowledge of critical care clinical workflows will be a strong plus.

  • Effective communication skills required, including the ability to clearly express technical and people management related concepts in verbal and written forms

Desired Characteristics

  • Expertise in modern software development practices, tools and environments including practical usage of Configuration Management systems, Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery tools.

  • Proven knowledge of the Software development lifecycle in product delivery and maintenance.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with and/or lead blended teams, including 3rd party partners and customer personnel.
