CITY OF BELOIT Fire Inspector (Casual) in BELOIT, Wisconsin
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Summary of Job The City of Beloit is seeking a Casual Fire Inspector to serve in the Fire Department. This position is responsible for inspection and code enforcement work within the Fire Prevention Bureau of the Fire Department. Work involves the inspection of new and/or existing structures in order to achieve compliance with applicable state statutes and city ordinances. This work also involves issuance and follow through on violation notices and citations, and related plan review work. Fire Inspectors work approximately 19 hours per week. Schedule is flexible, Monday through Friday. Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 1. Must be 18 years of age at the time of application. 2. High School Diploma or equivalent. 3. A valid driver\'s license and satisfactory driving record. 4. A minimum of two years of responsible experience interpreting technical documents, codes or standards, such as fire codes, building codes, architectural plans or blueprints, including at least one year of direct public contact. 5. Fire Inspector 1 certification from a State of Wisconsin approved educational course or equivalent certification/training from another state or the ability to obtain such a certification within 6 months of hire. 6. Fire Tank Inspector certification from the State of Wisconsin or valid equivalent certification/training from another state is desired. 7. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered.
