DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Fishing and Boating Facilities Maintainer, you will assist the maintenance supervisor with various duties at the four large scale hatcheries in the Centre Region, which include Bellefonte, Benner Spring, Pleasant Gap, and Tylersville.  These four hatcheries comprise approximately 60% of the total adult trout population produced by the Bureau of Hatcheries. Tasks will include preventative maintenance of fish life support systems, influent and effluent treatment facilities, and general building and grounds maintenance.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Seasonal, full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position does not receive medical benefits. Paid time off can be used after working 750 regular (non-overtime) hours in each calendar year. This position may require some weekend, evening, and holiday work as well as standby time. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience operating commercial or industrial-use wheeled or tracked motor vehicles used in grounds keeping, outdoor construction work, agriculture, mining, or forestry work; or Two years of semi-skilled work experience in commercial building or plant maintenance and repair work; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Necessary Special Requirements: You must possess an active motor vehicle license. You are required to either possess at the time of hire, or obtain within the probationary period, a commercial driver's license (CDL) and any endorsements required to operate specific equipment to meet operational needs.

Additional Requirements: You must be willing and able to work in adverse weather conditions. You must be willing to be called in to work in emergency situations. You must be willing to work some weekends. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements: A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
