YOUR NEW ROLE, WHATS INVOLVED?

The Belfast Roads team is seeking an Associate with extensive post qualification experience in the design, pre-construction coordination and construction supervision of Major Road Infrastructure projects to work in the Belfast office. Due to recent successes and the continuing delivery of the A5 Western Transport Corridor and the A29 Cookstown Bypass, the team is growing and offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate seeking new and exciting opportunities.

The successful candidate will lead and help grow a team undertaking pre-construction activities and construction supervision to facilitate the successful delivery of major national Highway schemes and local authority transport improvements across Ireland.

YOUR NEW ROLE, WHATS IN IT FOR YOU?

The candidate will be involved in the project management, technical delivery and supervision of highway schemes from pre-construction through to handover of the completed scheme to the client. This role will primarily be client facing and the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of delivery of schemes in either the local or national transport arena. The role is likely to include:

  • Managing projects to ensure coordination of multi-disciplinary inputs.

  • Managing resources effectively and efficiently to meet fluctuating work loads.

  • Working with Clients, Contractors, Statutory Bodies, and other stakeholders to programme and undertake works on time and within budget, in accordance with CDM, QA and technical review requirements.

  • Lead the pre-construction process and co-ordinate project delivery teams and external stakeholders to deliver appropriate and cost-effective solutions to the agreed programme.

  • Support those less experienced by technical review, mentoring and advice.

  • Participating in tender bids and business development opportunities as they arise.

  • Developing relationships with other WSP teams to utilise additional resources for multidisciplinary projects

  • Agreeing fees and managing the commercial position on projects.

  • Management of specialist subconsultants inputs

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE:

  • Project management and supervision of medium to high complexity Highway schemes, with detailed experience of the Department for Infrastructure procedures essential.

  • Proven knowledge in design, maintenance and supervision of highways related projects. This should include new build, maintenance and assessment of roads infrastructure.

  • Proven working knowledge of NEC contracts. NEC Project Manager or Site Supervisor accreditation preferred, but not essential.

  • It is anticipated that you will be a Chartered Civil Engineer or an Incorporated Engineer with extensive post professional qualification experience.

  • Proven working knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCDHW) in relation to Highway projects.

  • Proven knowledge of the work of Statutory Undertakers as part of major National Highways Schemes and the Street Works codes of practice.

  • Experience or knowledge of Highway design packages such as MX/Civils3D and WinDes preferred, but not essential.

  • Good communication, client handling and interpersonal skills are essential.

  • Excellent IT skills including MS Project.
