We have an exciting opportunity at Caterpillar Foundation for a Global Grants Manager overseeing a portfolio of philanthropic grants in China and in specific countries in the Asia-Pacific and European regions. This position will lead the strategic development and execution of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in these regions, ensuring compliance with international standards, fostering partnerships and amplifying our global presence. This role requires a visionary leader adept at navigating the complexities of international grant management, corporate philanthropy and strategic program implementation.

What you will do: As a Manager of Global Grants, you will play a pivotal role in steering CSR initiatives towards greater impact and alignment with our global grants team. Here’s a closer look at the core activities you will lead and contribute to:

  • Strategize, Build and Manage Grant Portfolio : Develop and execute strategic CSR programs that adhere to our shared-value model of corporate philanthropy and align with our organizational goals – emphasizing community impact and program sustainability. You will work closely with internal and external teams to understand local needs and tailor programs that create meaningful impact across three pillars: Workforce Development, Sustainable Infrastructure, and Disaster Preparedness & Mitigation. Additionally, you will actively manage grants and organizational relationships to ensure programmatic objectives are met.

  • Directly manage Caterpillar Foundation’s Beijing Representative Office (BRO): As the Chief Representative of Caterpillar Foundation’s BRO, you will oversee Foundation’s activities in China ensuring full compliance with Chinese law. You will consult with the Professional Supervisory Unit (PSU) and Registration Supervisory Unit (RSU) to develop and submit the Caterpillar Foundation’s Annual Report (AR) and Annual Activities Plan (AAP) . Additionally, you willlead financial and tax compliance in consultation with internal teams, outside accounting consultants and China’s financial institutions.

  • Manage Compliance: Ensure all grants and activities comply with local and international laws and regulations – particularly focusing on the unique compliance landscapes inChina, the United States and other countries throughout the Asia Pacific and European regions. You will coordinate with government and regulatory bodies, non-profit partners, and internal teams to ensure adherence to all legal requirements.

  • Engage Stakeholders : Build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders including NGO partners, industry associations, government entities, donor advised funds (DAF) and internal teams. Your role will involve facilitating collaboration across these groups to ensure effective program execution, and compliance as well as engaging with Caterpillar dealers, facility and country managers, and employees to advance design and awareness of programs.

  • Amplify CSR Impact : Use various platforms to craft and disseminate compelling stories that showcase Caterpillar Foundation’s impact, enhancing visibility and engagement. You will work closely with Caterpillar communications teams and non-profit partners to develop content for social media, internal communications, public events and conferences ensuring Foundation’s messages appropriately connect and resonate with target audiences.

  • LeadCSR Teams in Asia Pacific and European Region : Offer guidance, share information and manage local Caterpillar CSR Ambassadors to strengthen program development and delivery across regions. You will serve as the primary point of contact responsible for advancing the strategic CSR budget and grant portfolio for Asia Pacific and European Region.

Targeted Responsibilities: You will be responsible for:

  • Working with local stakeholders to engage and amplify the efforts of Caterpillar and the Caterpillar Foundation on CSR and Social Impact related items.

  • Obtaining relevant information for successful implementation from non-profit organizations, such as program risk and reputational details, budget, and marketing goals.

  • Evaluating programs for compatibility with public relations efforts and communicating and reporting for senior management.

  • Observing social, economic, and political trends that might affect our work and making recommendations to enhance our impact and reputation based on those trends.

Program Management (M0260): Knowledge of the policies and techniques to manage a set of related projects within a program; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control the set of projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve program objectives.

Level Extensive Experience:

•  Evaluates risks and vulnerabilities, and creates contingency plans.

•  Advises others on preferred tools, techniques and methods for estimating program cost and time.

•  Conducts regular and ad-hoc program reviews with project managers, team and clients.

•  Coaches others in maintaining open communication among project managers and interested parties.

•  Oversees reporting requirements, and creates monitoring and control mechanisms.

•  Plans, estimates, staffs, organizes and monitors a set of projects within a program.

Desired - Others :

  • Experience managing a portfolio of philanthropic programs in China. Additional benefit if experience extends to Asia Pacific or European regions

  • 5+ years of Corporate, Private Foundation and/or Global NGOexperience

  • Familiarity with China’s ONGO law compliance

  • High attention to detail

  • Intellectual Curiosity

  • Ability to cross-functionally collaborate across business units, countries, and cultures
