GENERAL DESCRIPTION\ This position provides supervision of all public safety officers, schedules and maintains campus security at all three campus locations for ASU-Beebe. Creates and schedules regular safety meetings and trainings for UPD employees and college staff, maintains and collects statistics for reporting purposes, ensures certifications are up to date and serves as a liaison between the UPD and college community. In addition, will also manage the Emergency Alert System (EAS).
\ ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\ 1. Supervise public safety staff and security personnel including scheduling, supervision, and employee evaluation.\ 2. Review various reports and documentation submitted by subordinate staff for accuracy and completion and makes revisions as needed.\ 3. Compile statistics for departmental and special reports as required; coordinate or assist in the planning and implementing of security for special events.\ 4. Develops, implements, and maintains departmental policies and procedures.\ 5. Conduct special investigations and responds to more complex and difficult public safety situations; inform staff of changes in laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Judicial review.\ 6. Responsible for the strategic planning of the Police Department regarding staff, equipment, programs, training, certifications, and facilities.\ 7. Maintains college Emergency Alert System (EAS) daily functions, registration interface, procedure updates, and supports emergency management functions relating to the EAS system.\ 8. Maintains, coordinates, schedules, and reviews EAS notifications, training, and user/contact accounts.\ 9. Educational programs and training for students. Assist on occasion CRJ staff. Conduct emergency management and safety response and coordination.\ 10. Trainer for firearm certification courses ensures equipment safety and compliance.\ 11. Attend departmental staff meeting, provide information, and make recommendations on work area operations\ 12. Keeps the VCFA informed as instructed regarding police events and responses.\ 13. Develops and maintains relationships with community services, fire, and law enforcement.
