Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Plant Technician - Mechanic located at Beatrice Power Station in Beatrice , Nebraska. Position closes June 27, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.

This position will report to the Beatrice Power Station Operations & Maintenance Manager.

Position Summary

The Plant Technician - Mechanic will provide the primary skill set for all mechanical preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance. The Plant Technician-Mechanic will also provide primary support for all Mechanical Maintenance functions at BPS, as well as support Sheldon Station and the Combustion Turbine Peakers as needed.

Education, Training and Experience

Incumbent must be recommended based on the Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) results.

Associates degree in a technical field and two (2) years of experience as described below OR graduate of a technical training program and three (3) years of experience as described below OR high school diploma/GED and five (5) years of experience as described below

Prior Related Experience:

  • The Plant Technician - Mechanic will have successfully demonstrated a high level of competency in the mechanical maintenance field.

  • Prior experience with vibration monitoring is desired.

  • Prior experience with combustion turbines is desired.

  • Prior experience with combined cycle plants is desired.

  • Prior experience with computerized maintenance management systems is desired.

Licenses and/or Certifications

None.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Safely perform mechanical maintenance for the combined cycle and steam plant. Examples of the equipment include, but are not limited to: - Combustion turbines · Steam Turbines · Heat Recovery Steam Generators Steam Boilers and piping · Cooling tower and circulating water systems · Plant Grounds and Buildings · Other Balance of Plant Systems

The Mechanic will assist in developing and initiating a continuous improvement process for the predictive maintenance program at the plant.

Direct the work activities of others as required to maintain the plant.

Maintain allowed inventories of plant spares. The Mechanic will initiate changes in inventory as necessary to maximize plant availability.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.

Pay Grade - 13

Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $39.50 - $49.38

Travel Required: None Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
