RATE OF PAY:  $22.56 per hour entry, progressing to $27.21 per hour after 2 years (SA01)

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Responsible for administrative support to the Sheriff and administrative department personnel as requested. Performs routine, semi complex and complicated clerical and administrative duties and tasks while adhering to confidentiality standards.  Reports to the Sheriff.* *

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Completes various accounting functions including but not limited to annual inputting and monitoring of the budget, proof and submit biweekly payroll in accordance with bargaining agreements/policy and enter accounts payable.

Sets up and distributes agendas, supportive data and special reports for members of management, may take minutes of meetings with absolute accuracy and confidentiality.

Provides secretarial services including drafting and filing for advanced professional and managerial personnel in accordance with other time limits and deadlines.

Maintains extensive files of managerial correspondence, policy records, personnel, and departmental service and financial reports.

May serve as receptionist greeting and screening visitors, scheduling appointments, providing routine service and procedural information.

Composes and types replies to correspondence on matters of well-defined policy.

Carries out tasks requiring departmental procedural knowledge such as preparing certain departmental billings, scheduling facilities or evaluations, serving as interviewer for service arrangements and serving as departmental data processing representative. May also carry out seasonal balancing of accumulative totals, calculate billings and make routine postings to accounts.

Provides and receives information from other departments of the County and other governmental units if necessary.

May serve as timekeeper and may inventory supplies and distribute mail.

May be required to tabulate statistical data, research required material, analyze budgets and provide feedback for budgetary needs and have good mathematical proficiency.

Compose detailed communications to the Board of Commissioners.

Operates all office machines used in routine office operations.

Generates purchase orders and ensures timely payment to vendors and orders materials for the Office.
