Department Summary:

N132 and our portfolio partner, Nuclear Enterprise Portfolio, are seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to shape the modernization of the AF Nuclear Enterprise and provide technical leadership to the Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) Project at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, LA. This is an excellent opportunity to provide the AF with system of systems engineering, and technical leadership to shape the requirements, technology assessments, development and implementation strategy to modernize critical strategic nuclear warfighter capabilities.

Job Description:

Leading and contributing to system-of-systems analysis, technology assessments and performance trade analysis critical to the success of the Air Force Nuclear Deterrence Operations and identifying innovative solutions to improve warfighter capability and mitigate future threats. Provide timely and actionable data-driven recommendations to DoD decision makers in modernization of the AF NC3 Enterprise and AF NC3 Weapon System, as well as the implementation of the AF NC3 Strategic Vision and AF NC3 Force Development Concept, and AF NC3 weapon system Concept of Operations. This includes working closely with AFGSC and other Department of the Air Force C3 architects and integrators as a trusted advisor.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability in at least one technology or mission area relevant to the AFGSC work program (radio frequency communications, networking, MBSE, C2 missions, Modeling and Simulation, Data visualization), leadership, system development/prototyping/acquisition, enterprise/systems engineering and architecture development of sophisticated systems

  • Expertise in performing concept development, strategic planning, requirements development, market research, technology feasibility and evolution studies, and acquisition support

  • Exceptional communications, collaboration, and organization

  • Proven ability to develop a trusted advisor relationship with a DoD/government sponsor

  • Support key sponsor engagements

  • Shown success in working across organizational boundaries to deliver results

  • Top Secret Clearance

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field and 8 years of related experience

  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Domain knowledge of Nuclear Enterprise and the Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) Enterprise

  • Experience with capabilities trade analysis, mission analysis, information assurance, systems integration, and understanding of the relationships between operational, technical, and system’s architectures

  • Demonstrated experience working in geographically separated teams with the diverse background and skills

  • Significant experience in key technology areas: Digital Engineering (MBSE, OTB), Mission Defense (Cyber, Safety, Surety), and systems engineering

  • Ability to quickly respond to changing program and political environment while keeping strategic focus intact

  • An active TS//SCI clearance is desirable, the ability to acquire and hold one is required
