Mission / Job Description / Responsibilities:

The System Technical Project Manager (STPM) is the chief engineer of a system project for 2-Wheeler and Powersport customers. The STPM is responsible for thetechnical resultsof the project (system engineering including components). As such the STPM authorizes the technical system release. The STPM and the project team deliver results in quality, in time and for the defined R&D costs within a challenging environment for Indian customers.

The STPM leads a technical project team representing system functions, software, electronic, hydraulic, system validation/calibration and the technical project managers of the involved components. The STPM reports functionally to the system project manager (SPM).

Key Tasks:

  • Responsible for consistency of all technical activities within a system project (including software, electronic and/or mechanical components)

  • Defines and tracks the system engineering master plan (e.g. planning and assignment of work packages to match the stakeholder's/customer's expectation in terms of technical content, milestone timing, deliverables, maturities, ...)

  • Promotes re-use of platform solutions.

  • Escalates early enough to technical management if technical targets are unresolvable compromised. Has the duty to refuse technical system release if product functional quality is not met.

  • Plans, agrees, schedules, monitors and approves system engineering work packages and deliverables.

  • Makes available system and software deliveries (@prototype stages, @SOP and/or manages changes during series production)

  • Assures the availability of agreed System documentations.

  • Requirements engineering / management

  • Leads system engineering project activities from G30 (Award) to G90 (Post SOP).

  • If applicable contributes to quotes (G10 - G30) or change requests by means of qualified technical evaluations, effort estimations, documents and his/her trusted customer relationship.

  • If applicable leads technical system engineering serial life support and change management activities during system production phase (G90 - G100).

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering. Preferred background: Automotive or Combustion Engines.

  • Minimum 5 years to Maximum of 12 years’ experience in automotive business. (OEM, Supplier, or engineering service provider)

  • Vehicle, Powertrain, and engine system knowledge (e.g. controller, air path, diagnosis, emission, ...) of gasoline 2-Wheeler applications is a must.

  • Engine management systems, component, and controls

  • Methodical: Impact analysis, analytic thinking, problem solving, design of experiments

  • Internal & external stakeholder management (customer, 3rd party)

  • Negotiation skills with customer

  • Fluent English
