Johns Hopkins University Research Technologist in Baltimore, Maryland

We are seeking a Research Technologist with interests in immunology. The laboratory investigates immune-based approaches to the treatment of hepatobiliary solid tumors, with a specific focus on hepatocellular carcinoma, fibrolamellar carcinoma, and cholangiocarcinoma. Under the supervision of Dr. Yarchoan, his laboratory supervisor, and postdoctoral fellows and PhD students in the laboratory, individuals filling this position will participate in a wide range of translational GI cancer immunology research using primary patient-derived human samples and mouse models of hepatobiliary cancer.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Tissue culture: Culture and maintain primary cells and cell lines using sterile technique.

  • Perform in vitro assays to assess cellular responses and use gene editing techniques to generate transgenic cellular models.

  • Maintain animal colonies and participate in mouse experiments including tumor implantation, tumor growth measurement, and harvesting of tumor and immune tissue.

  • Perform immunological assays including flow cytometry, ELISA, and ELISPOT.

  • Data analysis and interpretation: Analyze experimental data using statistical methods and relevant software tools, such as GraphPad, and FlowJo.

  • Routine lab maintenance: Maintain lab equipment, reagent stocks, and necessary records.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some related post-undergraduate work experience.

Starting Salary Range: $15.50 - $26.00 HRLY ($20.75 hourly targeted; Commensurate with experience)
