We are seeking a Research Technologist who will perform laboratory tasks and complete complex, routine assays following established protocols and procedures. Under the general supervision of a faculty investigator and other laboratory members, experiments and analyses involving mouse models are performed. Work requires the primary use of scientific methods, procedures, and techniques gained through previous training and experience. The position requires a basic understanding of the theory behind experiments and the application of analytical skills to implement assigned projects and to identify and troubleshoot situations needing special attention. The successful applicant can work well with and independently and with a team of lab scientists. This person is expected to make substantial scientific contributions to projects and be a vital participant in this work.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Follow established procedures and protocols and use aseptic techniques to perform laboratory tests and/or experiments, which may include basic molecular biology and specialized immunohistochemistry techniques as well as advanced neuroanatomical analysis of neural cell populations and cell types.

• It may also involve using in vivo mouse models in experiments, as well as electrophysiological and imaging approaches to analyze neural activity.

• Monitor inventory levels and order materials and supplies by established policies and procedures, counting orders upon receipt.

• Assist with animal husbandry of the laboratory mouse colony.

• Perform general laboratory maintenance approximately 10% of the time.

• Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.

• Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred.
