The iPad hardware team is looking for experienced power supply design engineers who are motivated by the opportunity to take on big challenges. Apply your skills in analog circuits, power supply design, power distribution, and system integration to design products that will benefit millions of iPad users worldwide! Our team of system electrical engineers own entire products from concept definition through shipping to customers. We sit at the center of Apple’s wider engineering team, working collaboratively with mechanical engineering, software, silicon engineering and other module teams such as wireless, battery, camera, sensing, display, and factory test.

Description

This is a unique hardware design position that starts at product concept and continues all the way through to mass production. You will be at the center of iPad product development with a critical impact on overall design. Day to day tasks involve electrical design, simulation, bringup, debug, and validation for iPads. Routine responsibilities also include factory build support, and working with multi-functional technology teams in a fast-paced environment. There will be opportunities for international travel.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering or equivalent

• 5+ years of relevant industry experience in analog circuit and power supply design for consumer electronics and/or embedded systems

• Strong EE fundamentals (analog and digital design, signal/power integrity, etc)

• Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills

• Comfortable in a lab environment using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of low voltage power regulation and delivery with an emphasis on the design and validation of high efficiency DC-DC switched mode power supplies.

• Experience using simulation and analysis tools such as Spice and 2D/3D field solvers for simulation of power supplies and power distribution networks.

• Hands-on experience in prototyping, bring-up, debug and validation

• Schematic capture and rigid/flexible PCB layout

• Ability to analyze solutions and make system design trade-offs

• Demonstrated ability to understand technology and debug problems at varying levels of abstraction, from the system-level down to the silicon/transistor level

• Understanding of design and validation requirements for common interfaces (e.g. I2C, SPI, JTAG, I2S) and preferably high-speed interfaces (e.g. USB, MIPI, PCIe, HDMI, DP, Thunderbolt, DDR Memory, Ethernet)

• Knowledge of consumer electronics battery charging applications, USB-C PD, and wireless charging is a plus.
